How is Calgary getting too many missed calls? This has been going on since their first Ottawa game where the Sens were given more power plays than they deserved.

What did Calgary do to deserve such treatement? It's not 2016 anymore. They don't employ Dennis Wideman anymore. The players on the team are okay (Kadri hasn't been as edgy as he once was in Toronto and Colorado) and Calgary will open up a new arena in 2027 (I remembered certain fans claiming one of the reasons the Flames got harsh calls in the mid 2010's was because they can't get a sensible arena deal done...).

It doesn't make sense.

Every fanbase on these boards is convinced the league has an agenda against them. Also that the officiating in general is poor, but beyond that, that their team in particular is being targeted.

I didn't see the game, but let's just say the Flames did get f***ed and the Sens benefited from it.

In the near future the Flames will benefit from the refs and the sens will get f***ed.

And so on and so on.

The officials are massively incompetent.

I don't really like the wording of this rule. It talks about a distinct kicking motion but fails to provide a clear definition of what that actually looks like. That's why the calls can be so inconsistent as to what constitutes a kick.

I'm all for teams sticking up for themselves re: bad calls but the overtime whining by the Flames last night was a bit much. The call that Huberdeau believes he should have gotten simply does not get called a lot of the time based on the play. Not only was the play happening incredibly fast, it was not very apparent that a) there was any type of high-stick and b) whose stick it was. Instead he lied on the ice and just kept giving it to the ref while the Sens score the other way.

For your entire team to stick around after you lost the game hoping the refs overturn a call like that just screams losing mentality. Surely they know how many plays like that don't get called, and they'd also know that calls that shouldn't be called (ie the Flames goal) do.

Edit: Actually, funny enough, I re-watched the clip and it looks like Huberdeau skates himself into the post and stumbles. Doesn't look like Sanderson caused that. Makes it even more cringe.

Flames aren't even that bad when it comes to penalties. They are 12 in the league for number of penalty kill opportunities. Barely even bottom half. There are 11 teams who get more penalties. For powerplay opportunities they are 24th so 8 teams in the league get fewer powerplays. The Kings get both less powerplays and more penalties than the flames but they don't seem to be complaining.

What penalty call are you looking for here? It's after the whistle, would have to be a pretty aggressive infraction to call a penalty. Tripping isn't really a possible penalty call in that situation.

Not suggesting you can't call a penalty, but you generally wouldn't expect it....especially for a simple trip. Guys can punch either other in the fact after a whistle and not get called for roughing.
