I think it's more of that we are asking a few players to do more than they can ...at least tonight that's what I think I saw. 3rd period the cracks started showing.

They don’t have any centers outside of Nico. They are down two defensemen and couple of other guys were out. They are going to have to white knuckle games. Still scored 3 and held them to under 30 shots. That should have been 2 points if not for Markstrom allowing two soft goals.

I don't know if it was extreme turtling like Columbus. More worrisome is how panicky and dumb they got. If the decision was to dump, they overhandled. If the right decision was to pick your head up and hold for .5 seconds it was a dump. They fed Calgary that third with dumb.
I really did not like Noesen tonight. Luke, Bratt and Nico were awesome but other forwards that had ice time were pretty uneven. Mercer had his ups and downs. Tatar and Meier also---up and down. It's just not enough.

The 3 in 4 for Calgary is a real tough look. A good team absolutely skates them into the ground in the 3rd. You know…kinda like we were doing in the first 40

A serious team doesn't absolutely turtle against a division rival in CBJ in an important game and let their goalie make all the big saves.
A serious team doesn't allow 4 (!!!) goals in a third period where they lead by 2 in a playoff crunch.
This team is an unserious team right now, and hopefully they learn from this game.
Cause the pieces that are here now are the pieces that are going to be here for years.

I’m not going to blame that all on Marky. Giving them constant odd man rushes and the overall sloppy awful play by the team is what cost them this game. I gave them a pass for the 3rd period against the Blue Jackets figuring it was just a one-off game. They should honestly be embarrassed to play that way with the playoffs just ahead.

Apparently we need to play perfectly or just score 5 goals to win a game with him. Like the way we played the first 2 periods.

Wonder who was in net for the 1 game they won above that you mentioned? Markstrom lost them 4 points from the soft Harley goal late in Dallas and tonight. First round pick for that guy btw. But I'm sure the convo will be why Timo and Bratt only have 20 goals for the year in March and the actual discussion will get bombarded
