Calgary is now 15th as Utah has passed them, but the standings in the West are pretty tight. Both Vancouver and Dallas are in danger of losing their playoff spot. I can see one of Utah or Calgary taking Vancouver's spot.

10 teams are at least 2 games under .500, that really bodes well for this pick. Plus another two teams are one game under.
If the Flames can play .500 hockey the rest of the way or even slightly under, we're probably good. They just need to avoid any lengthy losing streaks. Their toughest stretch of schedule is late February through March so hopefully they build a buffer before then.

It's going to be tight in the standings for a while yet I assume,
so far 4 teams are under .400 win %, we are around 2 weeks away from teams hitting the mid point in games played. Next you have the Ducks and Habs in the middle between the bottom and the next group which are in the .470 to .485 range. You have 6 teams, Wings, NYI, Jackets, Seattle, Flyers, Blues.
Getting into that bottom 12 won't be easy outside of a sabers like losing streak, plus you have teams like the Sens, Utah, who I just don't trust to help us but we'll see. Pitt and boston have among the worst goal dif in the league so we'll see if that changes as it usually sorts it's self out

Sorry for not reading more, and I think I knew the answer at one point, but I simply don't remember. If Calgary is top10 pick, or any lottery pick (missing the playoffs), we get Floridas pick, if not it's Calgary?

No need to get lost in the weeds. It’s basically Flames’ 1st Round pick if it’s not a top-10 pick.
With Detroit and Buffalo being absolute trash…There is 6 team IMO who will easily finish below flames, no contest.

After an expected loss in Vegas, Calgary wins again tonight against Vancouver.

No problem, I will post it again in February and see where we are! Flames pick has been pretty consistent, I think by February we will have a good idea of the range of the Penguins 2nd and Flames 1st.. our picks will probably remain volatile due to how young the team is and how close the bottom of the EC is.

A lot of drama between Pettersson & Miller, and both of them are sucking. Their 2 best defensemen are injured leaving Myers as their #1. Lol
The rest of their D are immobile meatgrinders who can't pass or make plays.
Demko has been out since last playoffs & like Dach, he's struggling to get his game back. He's been average since returning.

Nashville is playing better hockey since they moved Stamkos back to center & ROR came back from injury. Saros is back to playing well, too, so not surprised Calgary lost to them.
It's going to be close to the end. They'll finish somewhere between 9-16. I don't see them falling into bottom 8. I think those teams are clearly worse. I guess depends if or how much they sell at TD.
