Isn't there a component of that deal that extends into 2026 pick?
If Calgary wins 1st OA.

when i think about this pick and the flames losing heat
I think if both teams are in the top 10, the 1st is in 2026 unprotected ? i dont get the schéma in page 1, the question should be does both the pick are top 10 in 2025, if so we just get the 2026 from the Flames wher ever they finish ?
Basically, we get the better of the Panthers or Flames 1st in 2025 - unless the Flames are picking top 10. If the Flames are picking top 10, we get the Panthers pick.someone needs to explain the conditions on calgary’s pick to me again

We're getting the 1st pick in 2024 and the 2nd overall in 2025 with CGY's first. 100% real, saw it in my soup the other night, and before you ask, yes I was hella drunkThere's a lot that has to happen for us to get a good pick. If Calgary has both their own and Florida's pick in 2025 chances are higher we get Florida's pick.
The 1st OA protection that everyone is getting excited about ONLY happens if Florida finishes bottom 10 THIS year.
Any other result and Calgary has 2 picks in 2025; in which case we'd get the worst pick if Calgary is top 10 & Florida is not. We get the better pick if Calgary is 11+.
Both Florida and Calgary have to be bottom ten and I believe neither pick can be first overall. Is there a scenario where we actually get a top 10 pick at all in any of these scenarios?
If Florida is bottom ten in 2025, they keep their 1st rounder and it transfers to 2026 1st round pick, so we would be getting Calgary's first, UNLESS it's the 1st overall. Then they would keep it.Both Florida and Calgary have to be bottom ten and I believe neither pick can be first overall.
f*** it's not even worth thinking about. We're gonna get a pick for taking a cap dump.If Florida is bottom ten in 2025, they keep their 1st rounder and it transfers to 2026 1st round pick, so we would be getting Calgary's first, UNLESS it's the 1st overall. Then they would keep it.
Maybe I'm wrong but that's how I read it lol
Kind of ironic considering our top of the draft record, I'd agree mid round seems optimal.I'm over being hopeful for high draft picks.
Subbans, hutsons, Caufields, guhles
Florida is going to be like Habs after their run. They are all broken. The problem is, if they drop top 10 in 2025, we get Florida's pick.
So we want them to miss the playoffs, but stay 11th to 16th. That's not looking so good now. Damn Florida could mess up our pick again if they go on a run and Calgary finishes bottom 10.
I am a bit baffled that any GM decided to make this deal this complicated.
The league made them do it that way, their initial deal was rejected because it didn't take into account some possible outcomes.I am a bit baffled that any GM decided to make this deal this complicated.
