HF Habs: Flames or Panthers 1st Round Pick 2025: Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Calgary temporarily moves into WC2 after their win. Blues are going to hold WC2 after their game. They're leading 4-1 over Preds late-3rd.

That will give the Blues 75 pts to Calgary's 73; however, Flames hold 2 games in hand on St. Louis.

If Vancouver can find a way to defeat the Jets, they'll retake WC2. It's possible that 3 different teams hold WC2 over a couple of hours.

Utah is getting trashed by Edmonton 4-0 mid-2nd. McDavid with a goal & 2a.

It's weird, but not only is Calgary helping us draft wise, they're also helping us playoff wise.

They're @ NJD Thursday then @ NYI Saturday. It would be sweet of them to take down another New York team for us.

Blues do win & take over WC2 from Calgary. Flames 2 points back with 2 games in hand.

Vancouver has a 3-1 lead over Jets after 1. If they can hold that, they jump into WC2 & Calgary falls down another position in standings. Flames have a game in hand on Canucks.

Detroit is currently in 10th OA spot. Flames are 3 points up with a game in hand.

Keep in mind there's 5 teams between Calgary and Detroit. So it takes more than just Detroit to win enough to get ahead of Calgary, 4 other teams also need to do that.

Yup, and Calgary has been 3 points up from 10th spot for like a month now it seems. It hasn't changed.

As long as they don't go on a losing streak, we should be good.

Yeah, I'm less and less concerned about it. There isn't a whole lot of time left in the season for dramatic shifts to happen and Calgary is motivated by playing for a playoff spot, so they won't be wilting motivation to compete any time soon. They may run against some teams with nothing to play for, who are managing minutes or injuries, too.

Tonight would be a good time for Calgary to win. A win puts them 5 pts up from the 10th place team, which is Detroit, who is idle.

Both teams would have the same gp.

bottom 9 is out of reach for Calgary. So 1 spot left disponible but they would need to fall bad and no team in the 10OA-16OA range have a bad finish.

All in all, I think we can consider the Calgary's pick being ours. We need them to start losing. Something like 5W-9L to finish the year would be perfect to get a pick between 11OA and 13OA.

No way it's bottom 10 now. Well done Flames. We've officially entered cheer for losses territory.
Anything can swing so fast!

Incredible they're 7 points clear of bottom 10.

But! In our last 10 games we've picked up 14 points. The Jackets have picked up 5 points. That's 9 points made up on them in 10 games. Anything can happen in this parity league.

But, I think getting the 12th, 13th, or 14th pick is looking possoble.

We definitely need one of Utah or St. Lous to stay hot and keep them put of the playoffs.

Flames are done playing Eastern teams now. They can start losing, but they have a fairly easy schedule.

I think they go .500 next week. They play 2 home games (Seattle & Calgary) then 2 away games (Edmonton & Colorado). They should beat Seattle & Edmonton which doesn't have either McDavid or Drasaitl in its lineup.

They're 7 points up on 10th OA with only 13 games left and they lead everyone behind them in RWs. Yeah, they can start losing now. Lol

Currently, they hold the 16th OA pick. If Vancouver & Utah could pass them that would be sweet.
