fleury is horrific
His stupid 'retirement tour'. Like dude, piss off and go away, we get it, you are done playing hockey. Stop hugging everyone after every game and waiving at the fans since game 1 this season. You are leaving a life of stopping a puck, you have 30 million in the bank, a hot wife, and you stole Lafleur's nickname. I'm not shedding a tear over you leaving. PS your rookie card is worthless

I think you need to eat a snickers?

Good news!

Not overly confident we get a good player in the late teens / early 20s in the first round based on our draft history in that range the last 3 decades but hopefully it works out. Been better as of late. Caufield at 15 was crazy. Guhle a nice pick at 16. Then back in 07 we got Paciortetty at 22. (Jury still out on what Hage turns into from last years 21st overall)

But then there’s a whole lot of Leblanc, Tinordi, McCarron, Mesar, Poehling, Juulsen, Scherbak, Fischer, Chipchura etc etc in that range. 🤮

I would for sure look at using one of the two picks in a trade package for a second line C

If Habs lose in 1st round they’ll likely have back to back picks.
It’s looking like Calgary 16 and Montreal 17. But we and the Flames could still catch the Sens, Minny, and St. Louis…

If the Flames win their game in hand and beat Minny, Minny and St. Louis will be at 93 points with 2 more games to play, Calgary will be at 92 points with 2 more games to play. Very close in the West.

The Flames could pass Ottawa, but it won’t matter if they don’t make the playoffs. The Calgary pick would still be before Ottawa’s pick.
The Flames catching the Sens doesn't matter if they miss the playoffs. The 16 teams missing the playoffs draft 1 to 16.

Yes, but the Flames could also pass the Blues and Minny...

This year's draft isn't supposed to be very deep.

I wonder what slot we could move up to by adding the 17th pick to the 16th pick?

I also wonder what current NHL 1a/1b Center we could get for a package including one or both of the 16th and 17th picks...

The most recent back to back first round situations since the Sedins:

2000
Chicago: Mikhail Yakubov 10th, Pavel Vorobiev 11th (This was horrible for Chicago, taking two Russians who both only played 50 NHL games each. Should have taken Alex Frolov instead of his teammate Vorobiev.)

2002
Washington: Steve Eminger 12th, Alexander Semin 13th (Classic winger/defenceman pick. Semin was a good pick though.)

2003
Los Angeles: Brian Boyle 26th, Jeff Tambellini 27th (Boyle played in the NHL for 871 games but the next pick at 28th was Corey Perry. Big miss.)

2015
Boston: Jakub Zboril 13th, Jake DeBrusk 14th, Zachary Senyshyn 15th (this is an infamous miss as Barzal, Connor, Boeser, and Konecny were all taken after)

2018
NY Islanders: Oliver Wahlstrom 11th, Noah Dobson 12th (classic winger/D picks. Wahlstrom has been a bust. Dobson has been great.)

They’re good picks, but I can see one being traded for immediate help.

cool.

The only 2 I recall were the Sedins and Boston’s infamous disaster show.

You can see there are no guarantees, even with 2 picks.

Us and the Flames are also closing in on the Devils now. If we and the Flames make the playoffs, we may draft after the Devils.

Minny and St. Louis really need to hold off the Flames.

Canucks and Utah trying to make moves on Calgary.

Now would be a good time for Calgary to start that fall many thought they would have a long time ago. Big game against Minny tomorrow night.

Nice to see Vancouver pull within 1 point. If the Flames lose to Minny tomorrow, Cagary is all but out and Vancouver is 1 point behind with the same number of games played. Big game in Calgary tomorrow after our game with the Sens.
