Kane would be a welcome addition.

I dont know how you can say no to more offense when you've seen this team score 0-1 goal in Game 7 exactly 5000 times.

Have 4 for this one, should be fun. A rare drinking game for me, train in, UBER home. Praying that it’s a throw back night
I sort of miss drinking at sporting events. About the only chance I get is in Dunedin and I don’t do that as often as I once did.

Because we can’t keep the puck out of our own net whatsoever and by our coaches own admission, the defense corp is already the most fatigued he’s ever seen and we’re not even 20 games in.

Not that I disagree about our lack of scoring in elimination games.

The crap defence is a blip in the radar I believe will get sorted out sooner than later - We all know they arent this bad. They were great defensively last year, and the year prior, etc.

The scoring however, in the playoffs, dries up like a desert, every year.

I say Defense by Team committee and add as much scoring as possible throughout the line up

We'll get better, but there ia a big gap with our additions and the defensive play of thr guys we lost

I'm hopeful that a few of the new additions can actually help out in this regard. Unfortunately, my cause(s) for worry has/have now shifted to the defence and/or goaltending.

Maybe... Hopefully.

You can still lose games while playing well defensively, and that can be discouraging. Especially if your goalies let in every half decent chance.

I am more concerned this season than I have been in about 8 years.

The words from the coach and others are great, but until they show me in a string of games, it is all hearsay and theory.

after our string of past seasons, tough to get concerned about anything anymore.

just can't wait until we move into the next 'phase'....cause this phase has sucked.

Two years ago they got on a roll at this point and last season they were still picking up points. We’ll see how the next 7 games go as it takes us the quarter mark of the season.

Settle down. Don't try to be positive. That is apparently not allowed here.

Some interesting developments

Everything is happening!!!!

The real question is, what the f*** have they been practicing this entire time?

For all the hand-wringing, win this game and the Leafs are second in the division and third in the conference.

October 2022:
Nylander 10 points in 10 games
Tavares 10 points in 10 games
Marner 9 points in 10 games
Matthews 8 points in 10 games

October 2021:
Tavares 7 points in 9 games
Nylander 6 points in 9 games
Marner 3 points in 9 games
Matthews 2 points in 9 games

October 2023:
Matthews GPG and 19 points in 13 games
Nylander 50 goal pace and 18 points in 13
Marner 17 in 13
Tavares 14 in 13

Do we maybe see a difference between the last two Octobers and this one? 21 and 22 had the rest of the team playing well and the stars starting off rusty before getting back to their usual scoring paces which explains the rebound completely.

The stars are already playing as good as they’re going to play, where is the massive November improvement coming from? A bunch of guys who have never been much are suddenly going to play twice as good?

It wouldn't be unreasonable to point to the support players as a source of future improvement. Bertuzzi for example isn't likely going to score like a 4th liner for the rest of the season

Sure but if things go well and he ends the season at his recent career averages he’s giving us maybe slightly more offense than Bunting did. He’s not a line driver and needs soft sheltered usage, he’s just going to clean up a few more plays that Nylander or Tavares set him up for. It’s not like he dominates possession and goal differential even when he’s on.

This is also assuming the stars stay healthy and don’t slump at any point, god help us if anything happens to their production.

Imo best case scenario is Woll and Knies somehow give us 30/30 and .910/2-something GAA but even then I’m not sure that comes close to the impact of Matthews going from 2 points in 9 games to scoring 50 in 50.

In November they play one team that’s better than them, 2 inferior, and the other 4 right in the middle with them.
4-3 is the minimum.

I expect lots of Flames fans in the building tonight. Had the most obnoxious Sens fan behind me Wednesday, even my daughter wanted to tell him to shut up. Really surprised no one took a run at him when he started singing the 'na na na na, hey, hey, goodbye song'.
