Low danger shots lmao. You want to provide some evidence to back that horse up?
I agree with his point, but i think he means that the shots' risk of going in lowers as Mtl uses big bodies to protect the slot, which pushes the play in the periphery. Mtl was able to get away with having slower but bigger D because Price was actively playing the puck behind the net and making the first pass, which greatly increases the speed at which the play is sent the other way. This was very evident this year, as D now had to go behind the net to get the puck, which made their low skating speed really stand out. Chiarot's skating was ok, so he probably stood out more than some of the other D in Mtl. I dont think he looked horrible, but i think he shined more in Mtl's system than Fla.

On behalf of the Habs organization, i would like to thank Florida for your charity in providing the 2023 1st, 4th and Ty Smilanic.

Panther fans take it from a Leaf fan. Tune out the HF nonsense. You have a far better team than most of the guys trolling you and ownership/management committed to winning. After you dust yourselves off you'll see you made steps but lost to a historic team. No shame in that.

Yeah Cats' fans, emulate the Leafs. It's working out great for TOR.

You know who thinks the 31rst pick for rental is is a big deal? Lottery teams.

So you think FLA make it to the Cup Finals next year? That's what the 31st in 2023 means right?

Literally ONLY delusional Montreal fans are still jacking off Chiarot.

Not only that but we'd be willing to re-sign him at a decent price.

False. Chiarot looked the same this year without Weber. Chiarot does need a good partner to get the best results though.

Panthers played Chiaort 17 min/game this playoffs compared to the Habs last playoffs at 25 min/game. So therefore, you won't see the same impact and momentum
Don’t compare this year to last year.

it was very much a skewed playoffs.

Weird post. No, trading picks garuntees nothing. It just shows you are trying and believe in your current group.

It would be even sweeter if Chiarot signed with Montreal. Literally a rental that didn't get the team anything, only to have that player back with the original team before that team even cashed in on the trade.

Oh and wait....it gets ultra sweet if Florida finishes bottom 10 next year, and that 1st becomes a lottery ticket to the big show.
Lol at you thinking this plug signing back with your team is a win. Give your head a shake

Can't believe they left the pick unprotected.

I can't believe it was the FIRST round pick of the 2023 draft! The Bedard draft?! I didn't know the trade details until just now. Those picks haven't been this valuable since 2015 in the McDavid draft

And for a rental in Ben Chiarot? wtf?
What if Florida misses the playoffs next season, and finishes with a top 10 pick? Top 5 pick? There's going to be alot of drama there if they miss the cut, and would've had a spot in the 2023 draft lottery.

Montreal is beefing up nicely. Saavy move by their new GM

Florida just won the President's Trophy and basically their entire roster is under 30. So while you're right to be concerned about the pick being in the lottery, you're blatantly disregarding the equally likely scenario that every draft-eligible prospect might be struck by lightning and killed, in which case the pick will be worthless.

In your scenario the 2023 FLA Panthers would have to fall (nay blow) harder than the 2022 MTL Canadiens. A tall task indeed.

Actually no, upon careful reflection, it’s not even theoretically possible to have a more precipitous SUCK than the 2022 MTL Canadiens. Truly one for the ages, probably generational even.

HA HA HA. Silly people actually think Habs fans are downbeat right now. Dude, we were in the Stanley Cup Finals 10-11 months ago. We got rid of our crappy GM and coach and got big upgrades there. Suzuki was great and Caufield got his crap together. We beat records for IRL's and subsequently bottomed out. But guess what? we got a crap ton of picks including #1 Overall.

Sunny days ahead boyo. Sunny days ahead.

Chiarot has always been overrated by a certain portion of the Habs fan base, but imo he was one of the reasons we were so bloody awful. The guy just isn’t a top 4 dman. At no time in Montreal was he one either. I knew a first was too much, but as a Habs fan if you’re giving us feee shit we can’t say no.
finally some honesty from a habs fan

Haha. Skewed playoffs?

LOL, don’t pretend you are making the playoffs, let alone the finals if the divisions weren’t altered because of a unique global pandemic. If the Leafs were the ones making that run last year, you guys would be saying it’s a fluke because of the format.

The Leafs didn't make that run last year, they couldn't even get out of the first round of the playoffs.

I know you're just blatantly trolling, but put some more effort in. That doesn't even make sense.

For FLA to finish bottom10 (which is what you bolded btw), they would not have to suck more than the team who finished dead last last year.

What a useless post that just clogs up these boards needlessly.

Why is a Leafs fan talking? You guys were up 3-1. And lost.

You have absolutely nothing to say about that run. You gave it to us. You can't take it back.

Don't overdose on the copium.

So, what's your emotion? Envy or Jeolousy?

Would u be happy if this happened to your team? Maybe talent alone is not enough to win playoff hockey...

One of the worst trades we've seen since the Marleau/Jarvis trade.

He was one of Florida's worst players from day 1. No idea how anyone watched him last year and the start of this year and thought "ya he's worth a top pick in the draft". Brutal. I remember being pissed when we traded a 2nd for Plekanec, this is worse.
