Confirmed Trade: [FLA/CHI] Seth Jones (26.3% retained; $7M AAV) and 2026 4th round pick for Spencer Knight and 2026 1st round pick

theyve been taking their foot off the gas these past few games, having jones back there just made us defensively solid even halfassing it
4 shutouts and 1.44 GAA since hes been here and the team isnt playing playoff hockey, kinda like last year

Sounds like a recipe for being out in the first round then. I disagree they are half assing not even trying but Seth Jones is so good he is making the Panthers give up no goals against.

Exposing your daily Star light, star bright” wish there HV?

You’re missing what he’s saying, while also being full of hope. The Panthers had a similar March last year, how’d that end up? Were also minus Kulikov, Ek, Tkachuk, and Marchand hasn’t laced em up for us yet.

Florida still sees Bob as their starter and it came out today that they’re wanting to re-sign him after his current contract expires next year. Knight was due for a raise as well, we needed to shore up the 2nd pair. Jones had a good game tonight. Could be one of those win-wins.
It is a win win for both sides. The want to claim victory is annoying

Past events do not predict future events. Facts are the Panthers have played some good hockey but also have had an incredible amount of luck these last couple of seasons. They've played the most hockey in the league, and to make it out of the Atlantic they have to beat at least 2 teams who have significantly improved.

Going into the post season playing "half assed" hockey and expecting to flip a switch against teams who have been playing desperate hockey for a month is a terrible idea no matter who you are. The Panthers are not so much better than everyone else they can just beat everyone and go to another final no big deal.

Agreed, I get it, though. There was a lot of frustration with Jones from their fans so they’re happy to be free of him and kinda want to see him be crappy here as well. Hopefully he has way more games like last night than a couple other nights. He’ll learn the system and continue to grow. Knight has the ability to be a stud, Chicago got a great goalie

Yeah, 3 shutouts and coming off a win streak is desperation. Didn’t say it wasn’t a big deal, but check out the Lightning prior to their second Cup. Great teams know how to turn it on, like they did against the Leafs in both meetings.

“Star light, Star bright…” You’re funny.

Take you first round exit experience somewhere else, we don't need it.

Think it’s a fantastic trade for both sides.

They aren’t spending anywhere near the cap so what does that matter? Yes it’s a used retention spot but they got a good return on a guy that was rocking the boat to leave.
It matters because cap space is very valuable. Even when they arnt contending you can weaponize that cap space to buy draft picks by facilitating deadline trades with retention or taking on bad expiring contracts. I get that they had to move Jones but it sucks they have to pay him that much for that long.
