**** boston. i want to play them so bad, I know this team can beat them in a 7 game series.

I'm not so confident...I wish we were facing Ottawa in the 1st round (not at all related to their roster, but because of how much fun it was watching the Battle of Ontario)

Out of the 3 big 2nd line we had a couple of years ago, I think Kulemin is the only one worth keeping. At least when he isn't scoring he's still a work horse in other aspects. Grabo and Mac aren't as usefull when not producing. Mac was demoted to the 4th line on a few occasions. I would rather see Frattin get a spot on this team than Mac. I think he has the potential to produce and still be a real hard worker when not producing on the score sheet.

We still have a young team, not that Macarthur is Recchi and what he did for the Bruins, I think he can be a nice veteran presence for Colborne and Frattin one day. I have high hopes for the latter 2, and we have to remain patient. They had a strong chemistry with the Marlies, This can be our 3rd line one day. It's crunch time for Colborne, he's an 08 draft pick, I don't believe another year in the AHL will be good for him, he will be somewhat devastated if he spends yet another year with the Marlies. Need to put him in a position to see what he's got, and I say this in all respect to Orr and Mclaren, 2 guys that really shaped our identity as a team this year.

Carlyle with a classic line about Kessel in post game "we're talking about a point a game guy not getting offence...I don't get it". He laughed.

Best quote of the night.

Some people need to give their heads a shake. Guy has 38 points in 39 games while re-inventing himself in a way as Carlyle alluded to. Same sort of thing goes for Reimer - people saying he isn't a "goalie of the future" but a 15-5-4 record with a .919 sv% is looking pretty nice.

48 points.

Playoff hopes are looking good. I do hope we face Montreal first round - win or lose, it would be epic.

Also, while I was hoping for a better player than O'Byrne, the style he plays is needed on this team (and his handedness) more than Gardiner or Kostka right now. Which is sad because I'd love to see Gards getting some playing time. Hopefully this is just an off year for him (sophomore slump).

I'm in the camp where the Captain of our team who plays irreplaceable minutes deserves the 6-6.5M.

Definitely. Dion is having a helluva year. He does most of the heavy lifting on the back end, and is the one guy Carlyle always wants on the ice, no matter what the situation.

smells like playoffs coming

I come in peace. Very impressive performance by Toronto. With this goofy season, I have not seen them. You guys have a nice team capable of doing some damage. Nice to see them in the thick of it again.

Rangers gave us a good run in the 3rd. Nash was scary lol.

Here's to another competitive game on Wednesday in the Garden. :handclap:

omg I'm going to get greys with the stress this team can cause but man, MY BOY KESSEL....I wore my Kessel Jersey and it looks to have paid off ;)

I came in to hear the carlyle presser and I screamed out YESSSSS! Because I was like thank you ! this is all I was talking about !

He also started stating how he's improved other aspects of the game vastly

Is that kid happy or upset?

You missed quite the game, LR.
Will park my ass in front of the next ones with you
I think Grabovski will break out for us in the playoffs.

We know he shows up against Boston...we also know he ****ing hates Montreal. He'll be there.
I agree, a lot of the third liners I think will wake up with we are being barraged by a tough "P" opponent. I am still anxiously waiting for that "X" beside our name.
Dion was a Boss tonight too.
So many take him for granted, both Kessel and Dion.
I really like that quote.... hopefully he tells the rest of the guys that too.. we need to stay on top the rest of the run to take some swagger and cockiness into the playoffs
I think Carlyle is making sure we are sticking to it. Kessel said the same thing, it's still far away.
Wild fan here who likes the Leafs, too.

Great win tonight, you guys. I'm pulling for you to get into the playoffs. :)

notdoneyet, I can't stop laughing at your icon.

Thanks for the wishes! All the best to you guys as well :)

Phaneuf stood Nash at the blue line at least 2-3 times when they were both on the ice together.

I can't believe Carlyle let Nash play against Franson/Fraser. Those goals don't happen if Phaneuf is on the ice.

Have you ever seen Kessel play against the Bruins? Chara is Kessel's shadow.
Fraser and Franson were on against a different line both times but Tortorella did a quick line change to get the Nash line on and it worked both times.

I think someone stated it, but the best part of both coaches interview is how praises were given to both players the toronto media kills. Kessel and Phaneuf. Torts was like as soon as phaneuf was out, we got nash on the ice, sounds eerily like how julien is with chara on kessel

Yup, you can see the respect Phaneuf garners from opposing coaches. He is an absolute menace against the other teams best player every night. Imagine if he had someone like Suter beside him like Weber did for so many years.

Nothing easy. Fight and scratch for every point. A great way to claw into the playoffs. Gets you ready for what you need to do there.

Stupid question but what's burn the boats mean?

It essentially means that there's no turning back. You're either going to go forward, or you'll die. So instead of staying back, you're going to burn the boats and go forward.

It's pretty cool in my opinion.
