Sanderson’s been what we thought he would be, a steady-ish rookie defensemen that will have some blunders and flashes.

Robin Salo is really f***ing good. He'll probably remain relatively unknown like Devon Toews when he was an Islander, but the knowledgeable fans around the NHL will soon figure out this little known secret on the Island.

Wild:

Addison is a beast, has been our best defenseman. A season in Iowa worked wonders.

Jury’s still out on Rossi. He has had like 14 minutes of ice time total and Evason, being the genius he is, scratched him for game 3. He will play on a line with Boldy and Gaudreau, so at least he’s not playing with plugs next game.

Holloway looked like he was more than NHL ready in camp, now he looks like some time in junior (not the AHL) would be good for him.
No idea what happened.

Flames? Play rookies?! Hahahaha.

You have rookies? Must be nice. We don't get any in Calgary.

Pelletier and Phillips were the closest I think, but they were sent down relatively early in preseason... Rooney and Ritchie locked up the potential spots... and both guys have been surprisingly decent. :dunno:

Its almost like they're invisible on the Flames.

To be fair and to your point, the rookies that lasted the longest were all preseason IR. I think Pospisil was the last one to be sent down?

As a Pens fan, I had to look up Guhle during the game he was playing so well. Who the hell is this Guhle guy? I said to myself. Didn’t know he had a five year older brother also in the NHL.

Sabres:

JJ Peterka -- Impactful pretty much every shift. Needs to shoot more, but he's been better than advertised.
Jack Quinn -- Quiet in the first 2 games. Seems to be adjusting to the speed of the NHL and getting a feel for where he needs to be.
Owen Power -- Forgot how to hockey game 1 and half of game 2. 2nd half of game 2 and game 3, he was the steadying force he's supposed to be. Still learning the offensive side of things.

How has Shane Wright looked? Haven't had the time to watch any Kraken games.
He'd have to be on the ice to actually form an opinion. Last 3 games he's had 6 minutes of ice time. I have no idea what they're doing with him

Jake Neighbours looks like a boy but plays like a man. Very pleased we didn't trade him in any of the packages that have been suggested over the past year or so.

The fact that the Habs are playing with 4 rookies in defense is very impressive, especially for their quality of play. Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj and Kovacevic are playing much better than I expected....even if it's only a start to the season.

Nick Robertson had an outstanding camp and was cut due to his waiver eligibility but made his debut and looked in the NHL how he has in lower leagues. 2 goals including the OT game winner and many great defensive plays. Has a crazy high motor as well.

His high motor has gotten him into trouble but it looks as though he is learning how to tame it. Uses it 90% of the time but knows to dial it back now when needed.

Definitely need a spark plug player like that in the Leafs lineup.

Figure Quinn will draw in again soon and Power had his first multi-point game as a pro last night. Things there are still looking good.

Holtz has looked decent. Scored a goal then has been regulated to the 4th line… Is not gettimg minutes even though he has looked improved from last year (better skating , on ice awareness ) .
If their PP continues to struggle (looks way better but still under performing) I can see them gicing Holtz a shot on one PP unit.

Are you not the same poster that said you didn't like his game and that he was trending towards being a massive bust during this years rookie scrimmages in Traverse City?

For the Kraken

Beniers is good, really good.

Wright just hasn't gotten enough playing time so far, but he got his first point and nearly scored as well against the Blues.

He played like shit in that tournament and only played well in pre-season. And I didn't quite say it like that...

But reality is that I just don't like the way he plays and I think he will sadly be a massive bust here

Yes, you did.

Fairly certain this was also after the 1st period of the 1st rookie game too.

Meh fair enough but I also said multiple times I hope he proves me wrong. I liked his game last night is all I am saying and it's not like I didn't change my view as the pre-season went on.

I'd tell you about how good the sens rookies look but the whole league's gonna know soon enough anyways.
