He keeps winning us out of a good pick. He needs to go. Needs more system play and less offense. I'm sick of him. Discuss.

Its all about culture and a winning mentality. Flyers never wanted to Blackhawk, Shark or Penguin the league. They rather proudly Buffalo Sabre the Metro Division.

You may like it or not but it is what it is.

Watch Crosby stop being a ppg player next season to see them select McKenna.
The Poverty Pittsburgh Penguins (that's what we called them folks) has won FIVE cups while Fantastic Flyers have gone FIVE ZERO years without winning a cup. Even the Booty Blackhawks have won three cups in the modern era! Just disgusting. Sabres will win a cup before the flyers even sniff the conference finals again.

Why can't you just enjoy the wins?
Delayed gratification, or deferred gratification, is the ability to resist the temptation of an immediate reward in favor of a more valuable and long-lasting reward later. It involves forgoing a smaller, immediate pleasure to achieve a larger or more enduring benefit in the future. A growing body of literature has linked the ability to delay gratification to a host of other positive outcomes, including academic success, physical health, psychological health, and social competence.

Can’t blame Shaw or the players, they are just doing their jobs.

The blame is squarely on Flyers management for not waiting until April 18th to fire the shitbag

Oh, believe me, I have more than enough blame to go around. My fields of blame are full to bursting, such plenty as has never been seen before. If I don't share it with one and all, much of the blame will go to waste, and rot on the vine. Don't waste all this perfectly good blame, hand it out liberally.

This run just goes to show how much of a drag hiring a guy like Torts can have on a team. This team was dead in the water. Couldn’t score. Couldn’t stop the goals from bleeding in. Now this. I’m sure the players feel weightless after that experience.

I just think about all the ball washing this org and fanbase did for Torts just for it to end in flames. All you can do is laugh.

It flamed out in his first year and they just f***ing kept him.

I argued from the start that it flamed out the moment he got in front of the press and proudly proclaimed two things:

1) He does not understand the game anymore, and he will not be trying to learn, not even a basic attempt
2) He hates dealing with young players, which at his age is the entire league.

The first statement was arguably a declaration that he had no plan of living up to his job duties per his contract. They should have voided it on the spot.

I could be wrong about this but I think maybe they feel Michkov winning a Calder trophy will do more for their season ticket sales than a top 5 draft pick would and that's what they are trying to achieve.

Who do we want? Do we know Carle wants to leave Denver? Good news is it sounds like Vancouver management wants to keep Tocchet beyond this year.

Just looking at the 12 candidates listed in the Inquirer article, since that's the one with the largest list that I've seen so far, my own take:

Yes, please: David Carle
Yeah, sounds good: Jeff Halpern, Todd Nelson, Mitch Love, Jay Pandolfo
I suppose: Brad Shaw
Must we?: Marc Savard, Jay Woodcroft, Mike Sullivan
f***ing really?: Ian Laperriere, Rick Tocchet

f*** you and the horse you rode in on, with the horse you rode in on: Joel Quenneville

Naturally, my expectation is that the Flyers' internal list is what I just posted, in reverse order.

I wonder do they really want to spend the big bucks on a coach right now knowing this guy will not be the guy to get them there as still "rebuilding".

David Carle and then Mitch Love.

AF joke aside, the coach for next year really doesn't matter if you think that Shaw is adequate at developing players. It should be another tank season and all that matters is maintaining and growing the players that are currently here.

A new head coach is a priority after this upcoming year, IMO.
