If "Blake knows it too", why didn't he attempt to construct his team in a similar way?

What's the metric on that? I don't keep up on advanced stats where they can now measure how tightly a player ties his skates, but it's notoriously hard to quantify defensive anything, so what metrics are being used to determine if he is better, worse, or in between?

There are metrics to judge defensive ability, you could also just watch the games or listen to what those who have played with or against him and those who coached him or against him.

I would have thought that by now we wouldn't be having debates about how good Faber is, with what he's done...

D+1 - B10 Freshman of the year + dominant defensive performance and WJC gold
D+2 - B10 defenseman of the year + US Olympic team at 19
D+3 - Repeat B10 defenseman of the year + jumping right to NHL playoffs
D+4 - Calder Trophy finalist

Maybe if he wins the Norris next season you can be fully converted.
