I doubt it. Of the 16 teams in the playoffs this year, the Kings were 5th worst in xGF%, 5th worst in SCF%, and 3rd worst in HDCF%. Proprietary xG models differ from the public ones, but not that much.

The toughest thing for me is the fact there’s no plan. What made DL bearable from 2006-2011 was the interviews and hammering home the organizational plan when it comes to everything and every move he made. It wasn’t all perfect but you could understand the moves that were made. Felt good to see hockey ops become a well oiled machine when it came to contracts, cap, drafting, trades, free agency. DL was pretty clear eyed on things and had a very good idea what his roster was going to look like years out.

This current regime is just making moves on the fly, nothing makes sense. I knew they had no clue what they were doing when they drafted centers with premium picks and signed Danault. Moving Byfield to the wings, signing PLD, signing Cal Peterson to a large contract, trading Quick, bargain hunting for goalie replacements etc.

None of it makes any sense. I have no doubt DL spent 80 hours a week obsessing over his roster, scouting other teams players, where does each guy fit, how much is his cap hit etc. Feels like the current regime treats this like a hobby, they’ll look at it when it suits them, but more focused on attending their wives cocktail parties etc.

I have zero respect for these clowns. It’s not a serious organization anymore, that went out the door with DL and Sutter.

i'd love to hear Deano's thoughts on whats going wrong with the current model, wonder what he is up to these days anyway.

There's no way Kopitar or Doughty are getting their 3rd cup here, not after the PLD trade especially. AEG needs to step in, if they don't then people have to stop spending money on the team and Kings games. It is unacceptable and the purse strings need to be closed. We all get the loyalty. Nobody here wants to see Kopitar and Doughty go out like Quick did, and would all prefer they get the Brown treatment, but there isn't anything you can do about it. Timing is everything.

BLuc literally is just saying we are going to keep doing what we are doing, meh, and AEG is essentially saying in the background we have loyalty to BLuc and Kopitar and Doughty and therefore while they are still playing we are still going for it and burning everything in between. All that will result from that is a scorched prospect cupboard and a bunch of first-round exits.

Beyond depressing. It was right there? ............. It was right there?!?! What the f*** does that even mean? You lost the entire Stanley Cup playoffs in 5 games to the team you've lost to repeatedly as you been burning away all assets in futures for guys to specifically contend with Edmonton and it did absolutely nothing. In fact, we looked worse in this series than any other, and we were almost there? That's the most insulting vile bullshit I think I've heard Luc ever utter.

Didn't DL make a comment basically alluding to how Blake will get taken advantage of by other GM's? His reads are usually solid plus he's well schooled in how franchises win in sports, something BLuc have no idea how to do. Playing on championship teams and building them are 2 completely different things.

I feel sorry for the next GM because at this rate the franchise will be in way worse shape compared to what Taylor left DL.

I always thought that Luc was as sharp as the leading edge of a basketball, but now he proves even more stupid than I thought. What a disgrace. Anyone with a pair of eyes can see the Oilers are a much better team. Forget about coaching and intangibles, talent wins most games, and Oilers have a lot mor of it. To try and pretend otherwise is either willful blindness or stupidity approaching people who still think the Earth is flat. This team is in far worse shape than three years ago when they missed the playoffs. At least then we had the #1 prospect pipeline, lots of draft picks and real hope for a better tomorrow. This group is not going to get better. Doughty, Kopitar, Danault are on the wrong side of 30. Fiala disappears in the playoffs. Dubois doesn't want to be the #1 center he was traded to be.

Hiring guys like Luc and Blake who came from a culture of failure was always fraught with danger. I just didn't believe they could F it up as quickly as they have. They'll probably make a big splash bringing in a top goaltender and sell it to the fans as an improvement. But Kopi and Doughty aren't going anywhere, and they are going to try and win basically with the same group that can't get out of the first round. Very sad.

Luc attempts to compare a conference final loss to a first round loss saying"we were right there". Absolutely no accountability for the decision makers. There is no objectivity in thier assessments of the team or more importantly, themselves.
One way to tell about peoples intelligence is the quality of humility in admitting mistakes. Blake and robitaille have none professionally. Ethically thier relationship with brisson is a nightmare. I doubt luc knows what professional ethics are much less being able to spell it.
