Uh, They're 28th in Corsi% 5 on 5.
View attachment 930115
Even with a healthy and greatly improved roster, they're still only about 1% better before they mailed it in to finish last year.

Nobody cares that they suck in the standings. The style and culture is all that's carrying over and neither looks dynamite for a new kid coming up.

What has this guy done that tells us Moore, Nazar, Lev, Bedard, KK, etc. would be any better offensively in 3 years compared to a cardboard cutout behind the bench? At some point they need to take chances with the puck instead of waiting for perfect conditions.
Corsi and shots are 2 different things. You were talking about shots for, you said nothing about shot attempts nevermind shot attempts against.

What more do you want from the guy?
It's way past lines and pairs.

Looking for an upgrade on cardboard cutout level replacement or for him to be treated like any other coach in Chicago given his record losing streak, lack of identity, lack of consistency, lack of playing style that translates to today's game, etc.

I don't think any Chicago coach for a major team has had as much of a free pass from fans and media in my lifetime given the tangible results (beyond wins/pts).

At some point you guys are just choosing to nitpick every single thing LuRich does. I want him gone when the Hawks are done rebuilding too but we have a bad lineup with few good line options. What more do you want from the guy?

“This line obviously isn’t working!”
“Switching up the lines again!”

Hawks suck, we need a better roster and coach. News at 11

He switches lines every other game.

It's not really nitpicking. Reichel has been playing well... so what do you do? You move him to the 4th line with f***ing Maroon and Smith. Like what are we even talking about here? The man is f***ing braindead. He doesn't allow any time for chemistry to develop between linemates, it's new lines every damn game, or every other game. This team will continue to look disjointed and out of sorts with decisions like that.

They're 28th in 5 on 5 s/g.

They're only middle of the road in a few defensive/conservative areas.

He would rather have them play a simple defensive game and then bench/scratch/cut shifts fo certain players for trying to do something with the puck or to move aggressively to create offense as if the league is going to sit and wait while Chicago is one of the last teams to learn how to score.

The league scores, LR wants to win 2-1 in a 53 shot game. How many kids and their agents want 35pt seasons instead of 50pt seasons? Just no way to build up a group...and keep them happy.

There’s lots be does that I hate and I want him gone. Just saying we have a bad lineup with shitty options.

I haven’t watched in over a week unfortunately. Has Reichel really looked better? Does he look like a top 6 forward or what?

He's progressively looking better and better each game. I'd say he's been playing like a solid middle 6'er with some flashes of top 6 stuff.

And yeah, the lineup isn't that good, but he actively makes it worse with his line combos and stupid decisions, and not giving any time to let players gel. Hockey is a sport that absolutely requires guys to get time together to learn to play together, play to each other's strengths, styles, etc. That is something that translates to every level of hockey, even house league, or beer leagues. And somehow he just figures he'll change the lines like EVERY game. One of our men's league teams is like this. We're getting shit stomped because the other teams in the division have all been playing together for a decade+. They're organized, have chemistry, move the puck well, and play well off each other. Our team has a revolving door of different guys showing up to each game, and it's painfully obvious, because no one has chemistry, passes are missed, open guys are missed, guys are in each other's way, etc.

There's a reason where in this sport you generally find a line combo that works, and you don't change it... like ever. Unless you're loading up a line for a late comeback goal or a powerplay. And those things are scripted and practiced on the regular, so those guys spend time together quite a bit.

What are you questioning? Those are the stats. No one gives a f*** about shots per minute.
You said they were middle of the pack in shots 5 on 5 because of total shots ignoring that they played more minutes.

I was talking about offense in general and made specific references to 5 on 5 play, which, despite the vastly improved roster and greatly improved health, they're still sucking almost the same rate as. If it was the late 90s, no big deal but it's2024.

Bedard, Vlasic, KK, Reichel, etc. are in a system where they aren't going to be allowed much room to create offensively under this guy.

I don't know where you got your shots per minute stats, because I think it's BS, or you dont know how to do math. The Hawks are 20th in Shots per game @ 5on5 (21.75 S/GP). So, ~middle of the pack.

Vastly improved roster? lol I mean, slightly improved would be the better word. They added NHLers, but none that can really score or produce offense at high rates, more defensive aware players than offensive.

They are currently 16th in shots. It's not like they have played way more games than everyone else. I don't have time to break it down to shots per minute to see if what he is saying is even accurate. So no, I dont give a shit about shots per minute.
If you've played three more games on a fifteen game sample yeesh bud that stat is beyond meaningless be better.

They haven't played 3 more games though, that's my point. It's meaningless because they have played roughly the same amount of games as almost every other team. Most teams have played the same amount (16GP), 4 teams have played 2 less games.

After breaking it down to shots per game, I dont see how they slide 8 spots down to 28th based off of mins, they have played 7 and a half mins of OT. lol

Hawks are 8th worst in the league in Shots For/game and 6th worst in Shots Against/game. What the hell are we arguing here?

WTF is shots per minute for when we're talking about teams here that all play 82 games, not individual players with varying minutes?? People think these advanced stats are more precise now but they often zooming in way the hell too far.

The Hawks just aren't embarrasment level bad this season like they were last year. They still suck though I'm not sure how some of you are getting confused.

-4th worst in FO%
-15th in PK (nice)
-12th in PP (also nice)
-20th in GA/G (not good but better)
-6th worst in GF/G
-4th worst in ROW
-6th worst in P%
-Bedard has 13 points in 16 games with 6 of those points being PP assists and 0 PP goals (not good)

Really no need to complicated things with advanced stats. This is a mostly bad team that greatly struggles offensively. They are occasionally playing good defense and their special teams are not sinking them which is keeping them out of the gutter. Bedard is struggling while the entire team can key in on his 5'9" body.

You can't have a serious discussion quantifying how a coach does things without some fancystats. Bad roster and or bad/play will always lead to bad general stats but that doesn't distinguish Colliton from Lorne from King from Savard from Richardson.

LR does things certain ways, and arguing eye tests is generally pointless without being live and with alcohol.

So bad roster leads to bad stats as you say, yet here you are complaining about bad stats with a bad roster.
