I'm pretty damn mad they didn't get those two points. They're obviously good enough.

G:
This team is starting to show some swagger
Grigs looking more comfortable every game
Ott

B:
The power play is an embarrassment & cost them 2 points

U:
Color me shocked to see Richards out there shortly after I thought he had died
Kaleta AND Girardi hits with two very different calls. Apparently Ennis should have played dead.

G
Miller except for the shootout
3-0-1 in the last 4 with a tough back to back, signs of life!
Gerbe's shorty
Ott, Grigs, Staff

B
Signs of life could ruin our chances at a high end pick

U
Powerplay
Kaleta boards Richards=Game misconduct, suspension on the way
Girardi boards Ennis=Nothing
Yes, it was a stupid play by kaleta, but the extreme discrepancy between calls is ridiculous

The GREAT: the new guy is slowly fixing this team with good coaching; he is showing up Ruff in my opinion.

The GOOD: Getting a point on the road even though we could have (and maybe should have) had 2.

The BAD: The PP in OT was handled poorly by the team. Should have given the puck up immediately to get the 5 on 3. We wasted a lot of time there.

The UGLY: all the BS that will come of this Kaleta hit, despite the fact that Ennis got hammered face-first into the boards about 4 times as hard.

noticed the same thing the last few games

Me three.

There are all kinds of positive things going on with this team that are a direct result of new and different coaching decisions.

Rolston is correcting Ruff's ice time allotment mistakes, finding a way to get Gerbe more productive, I can go on and on.

:handclap:

I think if that was really the case, Ennis would've found himself on 7th Ave.

mmmmmm, hot dogs.

I was thinking the same thing, but it's obviously an exaggeration.

If anything I would say the hit on Ennis was just as hard, maybe slightly harder. Ennis is lighter and smaller than Richards so it looks much worse.

G:
- Ehrhoff eating big minutes again. A much improved transition game led by Sekera and Myers. Regehr and Weber with solid positional play all night. Very good game from the defense.
- Miller was solid.
- Hecht - Grigorenko - Stafford capitalizing on the soft minutes for the second game in a row.
- Ott pretty much has permanent residence in my good column. He and Gerbe have some real chemistry.
- Porter and Flynn were solid defensively.

B:
- Pardy seeming to lose Rolston's confidence. Just 12 minutes tonight. Maybe a McNabb recall coming soon?
- Foligno was awfully quiet again.

U:
- Power play. I believe that all of the Sabres assistants, save Corsi, have only ever coached under Ruff. They badly need an outside voice who can come in and run the PP.
- I thought Kaleta's hit was reckless, but not malicious. Richards with an epic sell job and he was careless going into the boards. I thought it should have been 2, not 5. And I thought Girardi's was worse.

Just saw the Kaleta hit for the first time. Already saw the Girardi hit on Ennis as well.

I 100% expected to be disgusted by the Kaleta hit. I was ready.

But what I saw? WHAT A ****ING JOKE. Don't get me wrong, that SHOULD be called and he should get maybe a game. But there are hits worse than that EVERY GAME that aren't called or are weak 2 minute calls.

The Girardi hit on Ennis was a lot harder, but the Kaleta hit on Richards looked so bad because Richards was headed straight to the boards already.

God damn.

I don't want to derail this GBU and turn this into a thread solely on the Kaleta hit because it takes away from this game. This was our best game in the last four in my opinion even though it's our only loss. But there aren't worse hits than that every game. He hit him clear as day in the numbers and Richards was set that way while Ennis turned at the last second and was much closer to the boards. The Girardi hit was bad but that doesn't take away that the Kaleta hit was pretty disgusting. That is something that needs to leave the game and he deserves a suspension (I'd say 3 games but I bet he gets 5 considering he got 4 for the Voracek headbutt). There has to be an onus on the player hitting him when he's angled that way for multiple seconds before hand. Honestly, he could have been paralyzed from that going head first or at the least destroyed his shoulder or collarbone. I couldn't believe he returned to the game.

Kaleta won't be suspended because he's apparently going to get his "face caved in" by Ilya Kovalchuk and Adam Henrique of all people on Thursday.

Waste of paperwork.

It was Bad PP but no need to give up puck. With goalie pulled, we had a five on three. No?

Gimme a break. He shoved him. It's a penalty for sure but Richards leaves some doubts getting back on the ice after looking like he was shot.
