And he is a great soccer player too :laugh::laugh:

By the way, James Patrick can't be worse at teaching pp, he was a decent pp guy at his prime !!!!

Once heard a theory about stuff like that. Skilled players don't make good coaches because they don't understand how to play without that skill, why underskilled players usually make the best players, understand how to play better.

Off the point, but interesting.

Both hits were textbook 2-minute minor penalties:

Kaleta with a crosscheck

Girardi with boarding

You learn not to turn your face to the glass when you're about to get hit at a young age. You also learn to keep your head up if you're going to turn your back to the play with the puck when you're 4 feet from the boards.

two minute minors. miiiiiinors

He was playing the puck just before he got hit, of course his going to be facing the boards.

It was a bad hit, a lazy hit from just enough distance to cause some damage, you see the slow mo replay? The way his neck moved it's a good thing his not injured. It's not like Kaleta didn't have other options.

His a great guy however it was dumb move so he has to live with the consequences. I'm pretty sure he won't be making to big a deal out of this for that reason. I think NHL.com has the quote you're after btw.

EDIT: back to topic!

I do think our assistant coaches need to go, aside from Numminen. Keep Numminen for defense/PK, Hire Drury (always a good attitude/faceoff guy, good leadership guy as well, things we have not been good at since he left) and another PP specialist. I have no idea on goaltending coaches since I've not really got a clue what they do.

- The Rangers PP. It's lethal. Vanek's probably the only guy on the Sabres that could be on their PP.
- At least if they're gonna lose it's going to be exciting. They didn't play the most entertaining game but it was pretty good, and they played a good team very well.
- A little thing I've noticed that Rolston does is he gives guys "reward" shifts. They mostly seem to be given to Vanek, but after Ott's assist he was given a double shift with Hodgson-Pominville.
- For tanking purposes: even with this point streak, they're still only 4 points out of last. Hardly moved up in the pack because some bad teams have been getting points.

- Also for tanking purposes: It's really the same old story. This team has floated on the line of being a good team or a lottery team way too much over the past few years. I feel like for Darcy to secure his job, he either needs to make the playoffs, even if they get eliminated first round, or they need to finish bottom three and convince Pegula on whoever they draft to save the franchise. If they finish anywhere from 9-12 in the East he's fired.

- I originally liked the navy Rangers jerseys, but classic Ranger blue is so much better.

26th in the league. Still better than ours, but far from lethal

Ennis tuned? Girardi had a chance to stop no doubt. And Kaleta hit Richards in the lower back. Richards sold it too. Which is even more of a joke and I have no sympathy for the hit.

Overall, an encouraging performance. I thought we were the better team over the final two periods even though we played Saturday. An impotent PP and a foolish penalty cost them a point. Even worse, though, is we gave the Rags two points. Three point swing in the standings.

Also known as 'every game this season'.

You basically just invented something to complain about. That's impressive.

*Sigh*

I'm not complaining, just making an observation that was very poorly worded.

The fans are in a better mood about the team due to their renewed work ethic and their developing "in your face" mentality. So smart hockey (like Ott not retaliating after the Ennis hit) is appreciated again. Whereas in the past it would have been another thing for fans to be pissed about.

True, that sort of thing becomes a focal point to take out anger when the team isn't playing well.

I'm encouraged by the chemistry Gerbe and Ott seem to have going. Not sure if it's just Gerbe finally getting his game going, but if Ott - Ennis - Gerbe can keep this going and we get Vanek back something could happen.

Especially considering the fact that Grigorenko has played the best two games so far this year with his new linemates and they've actually started scoring. Has anybody else noticed he looks noticeably quicker already?

It's pretty obvious his "slow-ness" wasn't as much physical as it was mental.

Just not sure Foligno belongs in the NHL this season. Is not playing with passion, consistency or drive. I'd be inclined to send him to Rochester and bring up Tarnasky.

I'm just glad they're entertaining again. I was numb to them winning or losing just 2 games ago. I actually got pissed when the Rangers scored those 2 girls, and I did a fist pump when Gerbe scored. It felt good to have some passion for this team again. I like the way they're playing.

Grigs is still slow, saying being a slow skater is mental over physical is pretty laughable at best. I have noticed as a line they have looked decent.

Explain your sentence more thoroughly to me please. Explain what you meant by a noticeable quickness in grigs game.

He looked quicker to the puck, quicker to react to the play, quicker to get into position in the neutral and defensive zones, and quicker on the backcheck. I agree.
