2 goals on 3 shots with the first goal being the first shot on Pittsburgh’s Tristan Jarry. Schwartz ruining goalies with the same issues left and right here and there. What an incompetent shitbag lmao
Are there no other goalie coaches that spend the summer in Edmonton? Just Dusty it seems. I am so ready to can this guy and try someone new, nobody gets better under this guy, goaltending is always a problem yet the goaltending coach remains year after year.

How about some accountability?

It makes absolutely zero sense unless he was some nepo hire. Zero sense. They turfed pretty much everybody for 10 years yet this rat mooch stays here. I was smiling so much when he got booed at the opener lolll

If anything, Jackson and Bowman realize that goaltending is critical (main thing holding us back) and Oilers mgmt haven’t handled this properly over the years.
Time to focus on this moving ahead:
. dedicate scouting member toward netminders .
. recognize the special development that tenders need (quality dedicated coaching and training/conditioning for example). It’s difficult to assess our goalie coaches in a detailed manner but it’s safe to say their overall body of work has been underwhelming. And our drafting of tenders has been a problem.
Until mgmt identifies and resources that priority, we’re likely to continue this unsuccessful trend indefinitely.

Hes just a terrible athlete ( for an NHL goalie). He really is. He is just so limited. And he always has been
Watching this game against T.O with TO on the pp. His lack of athleticism is funny.
Blaming it on Schwartz for Skinner being a bad goalie is just comical.
f***, Schwartz could be the only reason Skinners anywhere near the NHL.

Here is an interesting article about Oiler goaltending compared to the rest of the league. If you are a stats freak you'll enjoy it--some interesting observations about priorities.

Listened to a very good discussion on goaltending analytics on Kyper and Bourne from yesterday, discussing saves on low, medium and high danger scoring chances and how upper and lower echelon goalies are separated by these categories and their save profile. Give it a listen if you are at all interested in learning more. Whenever Steve Valiquette is on, I like to listen. He is extremely knowledgeable.

Otherwise,I will just leave this here. The source is Clear Sight Analytics.

Valiquette could be a good option if he’s interested in coaching. He does seem very knowledgeable and he’s spent a lot of time around the Allaires.

They had a good potential Schwartz replacement In Rodrigue and it seems like it was a mistake letting him walk. They should have shuffled Schwartz into some other goalie role and promoted Rodrigue. Instead the Panthers added him to their staff which also, not surprisingly, includes Francois Allaire.

If Ian Clark and the Canucks organization really has soured the Oilers should really be all over trying to bring him in to run our goalie department but he’s still under contract so the Nucks are going to have to green light any move and I doubt they’d find him going to Edmonton acceptable.
