Fire Anders Sorensen

Sorenson is like a rookie getting a call up to better understand where he is deficient at the NHL level. I hope he gets sent down to Rockford in the off season.
All Kyle has said is that he will remain with the organization.

Whether that's back to Rockford as head coach, or as an assistant coach in Chicago, we don't know.

I don't want Sorenson as HC anywhere in the Hawks' org. Assistant is fine.

Why? He's 109-80-21 as the Icehogs head coach over the last 3 years (.569 Pts%), he's made the playoffs every year with the Icehogs and won a playoff round last year. All the young players have said they've liked him in Rockford. Just because he's not there yet as an NHL head coach doesn't mean he's a bad coach. The NHL is a different animal.

Even Colliton, he wasn't ready to be an NHL coach. That doesn't mean he is a bad coach. He's been successful in the AHL.

Im hoping whomever the Blackhawks name as next headcoach keeps Sorensen, Plante and Dean on in some capacity…
All three(sorry King) have a proven role with this team…special teams have been top 10 al year, which is crazy considering they’ve been bottom three all year…Sorensen has a good feel for the youngsters right from AHL up to NHL, the problem with this team advancing to the next level(playoffs) is even strength and controlling puck possession by winning faceoffs…a John Tavares signing will go along way to improving that area, as well as a proven head coach

The last game we get a rush where Lev joins, gets between the dots and we score. Shocker. I'm not sure he did that again all game long or even got behind Utah's net even once?

WTF is the point of drafting Lev, Rinzel, Korch (and even Vlasic to an extent) if they keep being coached to play 2/3rds of the ice? That's all your speed, all your talent, let them play 200ft with zero hesitation. You can see them pull up all the time when they should have a green light.

Meanwhile, it's those D who are routinely outnumbered in our zone while the fowards/center are picking their nose. It's completely backwards, the forwards need to play in tighter in our end while the D need to be far more active on the other side of the game.

We're playing a lose/lose brand of hockey right now and I hope that changes. It's one thing to lose games, it's another thing to lose them playing conservatively while you have all this speed on the blue line not leading the team from the back end, that's pathetic. The roster is 100% not being coached to it's strengths and I hope that changes ASAP. Let the D play offense and teach the forwards how to defend in their own zone.

I think the bigger problem defensively is there doesn't seem to be a systemic transition understanding once they get possession back defensively. They seem to play almost purely off of hope. Wingers and centres pushing up the ice, even the D just sprinting up the ice, leaving whoever has the puck without any options/support to come up the ice with, other than trying to make a stretch pass. There were at least two instances at 5on5 last game -- I know Korchinksi was on the ice for one of them -- that a forward (maybe Bedard) got the puck in our zone and both D immediately pushed up ice, allowing a single forechecker to pressure the forward into a rim. That shouldn't be happening.

The puck moves faster than anyone is going to skate it. You need to know what your options are defensively when you win the puck back and you need to be able to break out and support your team in small areas of the ice.

The strength of having great skaters on your D, and guys that offensively inclined, should be that they're supporting the play up ice and beating defensive forwards to create odd-man rushes. Like Lev did last game. That's the ideal use of his skillset I think. He jumps up into the play, creates a 3-on-2 trailing, that turns into a 2-on-1 in the slot by Foligno drawing pressure and bumping it back to Lev as they get the zone.
