Oskari Saari wasn't horrible either, but about same level as Saukkonen and Mertaranta. Small advantage to Mertaranta over those guys to be honest but it's not something to pay for to hear Mertaranta over Saukkonen.

I mean I really don't like Saukkonen so I happily pay. Mostly paid to see all the games and I have watched a lot of games. Mostly the group Finland was in though.

Saukkonen has improved a bit over the years. I think that people give him too much crap for no reason nowadays. Mertaranta has declined a bit over the years, so to me they are close now. In terms of ice hockey expertise Mertaranta beats Saukkonen, but neither one of them are godly at that.

I like Mertaranta because he reminds me of all the success we have had and his voice is legendary. Saukkonen can't match that no matter if he tries.

It's not a bad reasoning. Mikael Granlund's lacrosse goal of 2011 WHC tournament against Russia in the semifinal might be the highlight of all time of Mertaranta.

If I'm not wrong Mertaranta is somehow a living legend in Finland because he commented Granlund's legendary lacrosse style goal against Russia in the semifinal 2011 so enthousiastic . For people like me who don't understand Finnish or only very, very little it sounded very funny.

He has commented all our WHC, 1995/2011/2019. His calls are legendary already from tournament 1995. The lacrosse goal just added on3 call to the list.

That aren't good news. I hope for Jaycob Megna it's not a death case in his family or something else bad. The team is of course also weakened.

The nicknames he used to make were funny and legendary. Tupu, Hupu and Lupu line. Those in Finnish are Donald Duck's 3 newphews. I think those were Ville Peltonen, Saku Koivu and Jere Lehtinen? Then the teletubbies line was another one. That was Niko Kapanen and some others. I can't remember who.

How on earth did they have only 5 D-men before Megna left though. I'm sure some got injured but did they register too many forwards on the expense of D-men then? It's really rare in ice hockey to have have only 4 D-men. The news story said that they have used some forwards as defenders.

Teletubbies were Kapanen, Hentunen and Pärssinen, that nickname already came from the time they played in HPK together.

Will be a 1st no matter what. Either Finland will play in the first ever final at home or USA will play in their 1st ever flnal with the current system.
