These debates are just silly. It is plain and simple that FIN & SWE are part of hockey powerhouse family. Both. It is fair to say also, that powerhouses have depth which is directly in correlation with nr of players/ size of the country. Sweden has more depth than FIN and CAN has deepest pool of them all. And if we talk about Sweden, there is no question that their WC/ best on best teams are always capable of winning whichever tournament. Fantastic players coming out of the system year in year out. Of course it is disappointing, if Sweden is not playing for medals every year, but does not change anything I said above. On the other hand, Finland has done very well in tournaments with very little margins lately. That will also end some day as the margins are so small. No need to bash either FIN/SWE. They do very well as small nations.Sweden still have much much much better NHL depth than Finland. We have 108 NHLers and like 80 that are top 9Fs or top 6Ds. It's fair to say you have better high end Euro league players though. But worse Euro depth and obviously a much weaker league.
