If you told the American fans that the US were leading Finland 2-1 late into the second, I think you'd have gotten laughed out of the thread.

Finland has by and large controlled the game in terms of how they see the road to their success. Not necessarily completely controlling play but by making the USA really work for their chances.

If Finland shot on their odd man rushes, it might be 2-2 or 2-1 Finland at this point.

Again, why is this a thing in this thread/media? Finland always plays the US tough and in general in international tournaments. Anyone who would laugh at that score line is a casual when it comes to international hockey. Finland beat the US 3 times in 2018/2019 for the U18, U20, IIHF titles. If there's anyone who would understand the Finland prowess, it's the US. Finland has always been a thorn in the US's side in this type of tournament for years.

Perhaps, but I think the American team themselves underrated the Finns again. They've been playing the Finns at their level for like 80% of the game so far.

Considering the light year difference in terms of puck moving on D, the game hasn’t been too bad for us. But man wish we had Heiskanen in the lineup, this group really needs a leader on the back-end for next years Olympics
