There's no real camaraderie between different countries, it's just cringe.

Yeah, it's a great idea to have a superstar like Leon Draisaitl sit out of a world tournament because he's one of the best players in the world that was unlucky that he was born in Germany. This is why hockey is a shit sport marketing wise lol

To me this is more or less "a road to Olympics" type of exhibition tournament, but it's great to see at least the players seem to take it seriously.
This is the same teams that will play at the Olympics. Sure there'll be a couple more teams with 1-2 good players each trying to carry their teams but in the end this is likely going to be the top 4 anyway.

Sure there is. When you get put on a team to compete you get to know each other pretty quick and try to win.

Hockey players speak hockey
But it's more than that, it's representing your country with your countrymen and bringing glory to your country.

This happens in soccer/football too. No Haaland/Zlatan etc in the World Cup because their countries couldn't qualify.

For making such a big deal about the tournament why did they elect to go with a C level broadcasting group with the likes of the Sportsnet panel.
That includes the ridiculously awkward player interviews between periods and after last nights OT win by Canada.

The Brady Tk interview just now with overlapping questions … yielded nothing interesting.

Last night she opens with Marner saying “Mitch freakin Marner.”

So weak.

I mean, that's a fair point but I'm not arguing it for the Olympics v World Cup. I'm saying it for gimmicky tournaments like 4 Nations and the World Cup of Hockey where the goal should be for the most part is growing the casual fanbase

That NA World Cup team was fun, I don't care what anyone says.

That entire tourny was so much fun. It was such a nice concept and to see a lot of young players get opportunities to play against big boys was something
Not to mention teams like Russia was there full of stars themselves
