This tourney is bonkers... watching Finland and Sweden lose to Belarus and Kahakhstan within 10 minutes of each other. Crazy.

Which gets me to thinking, has there ever been a better opportunity for Switzerland to take home gold? If Canada goes out I am pulling for them big time.

Strange tournament! Corona bubble make more possible? Nevertheless
the question is how many goals can Finland score in this tournament? Probably not much.

What a move by Valk to score on the shootout.

Though it is evident the Finnish goalie is quite weak at shootouts.

And also evident the Kazakh Hockey players skipped Math class growing up.

This is great. Hockey is played at an 'adequate level' in more than six countries. Finland and Sweden might lose but the game wins. Be positive, guys.

An aside: Welcome back to the future of stone-handed Finnish hockey players! Those shootouts - "wow"!

These beer league cups can be pretty entertaining. Atleast you don't know the winner in advance.

2 silvers in the last 7 tourneys and their team is beautiful.. some of the fans were saying they have about 15 of their best on best guys including both goalies. I get Josi would help but Canada probably has 0 best on best guys, Czechs have about 5, Swedes have 2, Finns have 1 or 2 to my knowledge. Seems like a great Swiss opportunity! They outclassed us big time yesterday. Looked like a Canada vs Czech World Junior game.

Finland loses every year to some minor team at least once in a tournament. Not a big deal.... But the game HAS TO GET BETTER.

For sure!! they are in a great position here. I think this thing goes through Russia IMO, and they are just the team that could potentially best them.

After 2 games this so called team Finland hasn't impressed me by any levels yet.
And then something else for tonight's game vs Kazakhstan.

Thanks alot Kontiola you f***ing idiot took super smart penalty very smart time in 2nd period.
That brain-fart cost us 3 points and win.

Please Finland STOP embarrassing yourself's more and get back to home asap.
Vittu mitä paskaa . This was all what i have to say about Finland's game today.

It's almost like they always have a solid defensive gameplay planned and after some loss to minor country some player goes "But what about offense?" in the room and then they try to adapt. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not.

Grigroneko is having a good time so far! Russians have very good D for this tourney. It'll be interesting to see. I still thnk 7 nations stand a chance at this one for Gold. Which is great becuase Olympics and WJHC it's only 5 which leads to usually only one good quarter final and a lot of blowouts. Kind of just waiting see how the final 4 are. This tournament is much different from that.haha

I liked what I saw from the U.S in their first game against Finland, they lost but they had lot's of good opportunities and moved the puck well, I would keep an eye on them as this thing moves on. I don't think they will win this thing but Think they could potentially take home bronze or even silver if they keep getting better with more games.

Finland is so freaking bad.

The only redeeming factor is that Sweden is even worse.

I've never seen a Finland GDT at this tournament with so few posts maxing out at 3 pages currently.

Well if they share how I feel about that game it's probably because there's not much to say. Finland dominated but couldn't score. Their goalie was on fire. Nothing else to say about it. Can't feel angry about it and of course not happy about it, so no need to post about it. Perhaps quality scoring chances were missing and line changes are expected for next game for Finland.

well you know how it goes, you can sometimes struggle against these much weaker teams with a weaker then can be roster, superior players usually count and better players available today and this game wouldn't have been lost. And I think they didn't play well on the big sheet myself, they weren't very dangerous overall today despite the clear advantage in shots and very loosey goosey devil may care defensively at times. On the flip side I thought the boys from Kazakhstan played a great game on the big ice tailor made to keeping the puck outside as much as possible and limiting dangerous chances. A Game plan that if executed could give them their best chance to pull off a big upset.

They have a damn good coach behind the bench there so I am sure they can sort out their limitations here and make the adjustments needed to be a factor at this tournament.
