I'm not sure what being independent or not has to do with it. The fact of the US doctor being the Wild's man could only be a problem if you were accusing him of bias. Which is a big call because you're then basically calling someone not just unprofessional but unethical. To me the basic need is to have someone who is as qualified and competent as possible. If that's an independent person, great, if it's an existing team doctor, equally great.

Doctors miss things all the time. Nature of the game, it happens. I'm also aware that Charlie was desperate to play for his country on home ice, understandably, so I highly doubt he was going around making a big fuss over his shoulder, quite the opposite, until the pain flared to unbearable levels once he was back in Boston.

That the Bruins are upset I get. But they have to just suck it up. Their medical team makes errors too. Shit happens.
I agree outside of the question of what caused infection.

That said, your point about players going through walls to play in dead right. I’m sure McAvoy did little to no advocating for himself outside of “let me play”.

Yeah, which we don't know. It seems like this was an internal injury, with no open wound, so the origin of the infection is not obvious. Whatever it was, fair to review the matter for learning if nothing else. See if anything was missed that shouldn't have been or if anything could have been done better.

Not that I really want this, but perhaps the best thing for McAvoy and his career going forward would be for the Bruins to shut him down for the year and miss the playoffs. A very long summer with nothing to do other than give him time to heal, recover, and fully rehab, allowing him time to strengthen his upper body and shoulder.

I agree. Shutting down H Lindholm and McAvoy with a directive to heal and be ready for camp in the best shape of your life should be option 1.

Didn't see this , thank you.

Been seeing Brads clowning around videos, Give this kid the C next. I hope Freddy puts Amela's teeth on the ice.

Maybe I should check to see if that would be considered spot picking if it is then Coyle should patty cake him to death with a few oh yea's from Carlo.

All kidding aside I think Fred will be gone by them so leave it up to Z

Him or Brady, it really wouldn't shock me to see Brady have more than just a chat with him.

Who is Amela?

Cool to see. Seems like a popular teammate wherever he goes and really respected around the league. Got an A for the team as well despite there being a lot of other leaders/captains on the team.

Also not against letting him rest up for the rest of the year. He's had some tough injuries and has played through a lot in past years, agree it'd be nice for him to rest for a few months and get back to work in the summer. This team has some gaps but is better than how they've played. Can't afford to be buyers and miss the playoffs (or get rocked round 1). Better in my opinion to regroup, improve the team, and start fresh.

At least seriously slow the roll of Lindholm coming back. Him getting a little time at the end of the year to see where he is at to help his work over the summer wouldn’t be horrible.

When the Bruins inevitably miss the playoffs, you just know Cam and Don are going to point to the McAvoy and Lindholm injuries as the reason why. Which will be completely disingenuous to any fan with functioning eyeballs.

Its a little bit of both right?

What gives this team a chance is Pasta, McAvoy/Lindholm and Swayman.

Lindholm has been hurt most of the year. McAvoy hurt now. Swayman has been off and Pasta started slow.

Of course, that fails to mention that the team has no offense after Pasta and that is a roster issue, not an injury issue.

I think they should put Mac on LTIR and use his cap space to trade for a high end player with term left or a resignable stud, that will then fit into the expanded cap going forward next year.
Pull a Vegas move, if somehow they make the PO's, Mac doesn't count against the cap if he come back in Round 1.
Who would you go after? There is buzz that Rantanen isn't gel'ing in CAR. There's your scoring stud.
Would you give up Freddy/Geekie/Coyle + Poitras/Lohrie, and Lysell/Merk/DiPietro, or a pick for Rantanen if you knew he'd resign? (/ = or)
Not enough/too much, what would you do?

Sucks for McAvoy but we can put to rest he’s not tough - there is no one one in reality who ever posted here who would play thru what this kid did in that series and regular season other then @NeelyDan

Best of luck Charlie

See you in September

Can't see Bruins having enough assets getting Rantanen. I would think they get outbid by several better teams with more assets like Dallas, where he could join
fellow Finland teammates Hintz, Lindell and Heiskanen. If he was from Czech Republic much better chance.
