Because in the south there is more money and better opportunities to place talents? In the north there are only Bremerhaven and Wolfsburg. In the north of Germany there are big teams Werder, HSV and Wolfsburg in Bundesliga, Oldenburg in basketball, Kiel and Flensburgi in handball, so I understand thate there was little opportunity to play hockey.
