It'll be a much bigger goal difference. We're worse than last year.
Canada are of course big favorites but I can't say you are right. We should be similar to last year.
Why?
2006 born players are pretty deep for Finland and as we can see on paper more likely that they can- and will participate.

Also Kokko was pretty shit last year. Lots of good players are one year older now and more experienced. Helenius, Halttunen, Pieniniemi and so on.
We never got Kemell to participate either. Kaskimäki didn't have a good tournament. Lassila was good but Hynninen has grown a lot this year and should be on that same level and as mentioned, Helenius should be even better this year. Those we could potentially miss this year is a clear goalscorer like Hämeenaho and a strong competitive winger like Nyman and perhaps Keskinen but as I wrote, this years center depth should be on a similar level. Perhaps weaker wingers but not sure.

No matter what, we were very slow last year. A lot of similar players with little pace and finesse. Hopefully they are a better mix this year. Both Nyman and Hämeenaho looked slow to me and they were our best forwards. One strong goalscorer and other one cheeky with high IQ. But we weren't dynamic and our bronze game against Czechia is the worst game I've ever seen.

Yes unfortunately that will probably be the case. Our chance might actually be going full offense cause we won't be able to defend anyway lol.
This could actually be true. I don't trust Kiviharjus ability to defend, skate nor tackle. And a D like Muhonen was never selected...

Maalilla:
30 Petteri Rimpinen

Varalla:
1 Kim Saarinen

1:
37 Benjamin Rautiainen – 19 Konsta Helenius – 38 Jesse Kiiskinen
10 Emil Pieniniemi – 33 Aron Kiviharju

2:
15 Tuomas Uronen – 28 Heikki Ruohonen – 22 Kasper Halttunen
7 Daniel Nieminen – 2 Mitja Jokinen

3:
18 Rasmus Kumpulainen – 27 Julius Miettinen – 32 Emil Hemming
13 Veeti Väisänen – 35 Arttu Tuhkala

4:
24 Jesse Nurmi – 29 Arttu Alasiurua – 12 Joona Saarelainen
3 Kalle Kangas

13. hyökkääjä:
23 Roope Vesterinen

Glad to see both Nurmi and Saarelainen in the fourth and hope they will show relentless checking and energy. I'm a bit disappointed that Vesterinen is benched. I would've liked him more than Hemming on that third line. That's what I think at least.

First five will be interesting. Not sure how good Kiviharju is and haven't seen Rautiainen enough.
That second line worries me a bit though. Both the forwards and the D's. Ruohonen is a bit of a surprise but I hope he' ll contribute with some defensive awareness and make that line balanced. I'm not sure they will be fast enough against the NA teams. Uronen and Halttunen are probably capable in PP but 5v5 in the same line, hmm...
I thought Miettinen ,Kumpulainen or Hynninen would be the second center and as mentioned Vesterinen play in bottom6 as a winger.

Where the actual f*ck is HYNNINEN!?

Last but not least, feel like Muhonen easily could've been there instead of Nieminen, Jokinen and Tuhkala to balance it out. Let's hope I'm wrong!

Yeah where the f*ck is Hynninen? No one can convince me that Alasiurua is better than him. Kind of weird lines overall if you ask me. But we'll see.

Agreed. Don't like that second on paper. Seems like the intensity or pace could punish them. Don't think anyone out of these three are fast.

Hynninen is a clear top9 center if not top6. Especially when you have Kumpulainen on a wing and Ruohonen as a second. I thought the fourth center would be between Ruohonen, Saarelainen and Alasiurua. So yeah, agreed. Very strange and weird lines.

After seeing the Finnish lineup I' ll change my earlier prediction from 8-3 to Canada to 9-1 instead.

Finland 3, Canada 6.

But y'all are underestimating Finland quite a bit.
Lots of people want to be all negative, hateful and doom and gloom about every Finnish player these days, it's trendy

He is/was sick or injured apparently

Interested to see how Nieminen fares against his peers, he's shown some talent in Liiga, but he's still very raw.

My man Kiviharju will start to silence the doubters here and Konsta "the machine" Helenius will cook team Canada tonight
