GDT: Finland Vs Canada | 7:30PM ET | Group A - Canadian Tire Centre

Schaefer is the nicest kid out there.

Last season his billet mom unalived herself, two weeks later his mom passed from cancer. He hasn’t stopped playing since. Very humble and doesn’t take credit despite being a stud.

I really like Matthew Schaefer as a player and even more as a human being. Binged a lot of the content that Team Canada have put out over the course of the season and he's just a vibrant and jovial character.

Genius hockey player as well.

Whatever team drafts him is extremely lucky.

Truly hilarious how much the commentary accidentally highlights how incompetent Canada Hockey is, as they talk about how Mckenna wasn't projected as the best player on this team, when he obviously should have been all along.

Fairly good period from Canada. Not a lot of chemistry showing yet offensively but I liked how they looked defensively.

I'm still really surprised by Bonk showing up on the first power paly after Schaefer had PP1 and Molendyk had PP2 in the pre-tournament. I guess it's too bad Canada lacked offensive specialists when trying to select players for the team.

He’s a fantastic human who is genuine in every conversation. Without him, we have struggled because the kid plays atleast 45-50 mins a night.

He will change whichever franchise drafts him. He is special.

I've liked Schaefer, Mckenna, Cowan and Ritchie. Cowan and Ritchie created quite a few chances on that play and Mckenna with a nice finish at the end of the shift.

Could have been 3-0 without Rimpinen in the net. Finland not even close.

McKenna best player on ice so far. He¨s so young and he still stands out as special amongst the best amongst players older than him... Crazy good. Better than Bedard and the best after McDavid for sure. Could be the same tier at the end who knows.

Finland then... Pieniniemi looks surprisingly shook. He's been awful so far and very nervous.
Nieminens defending on that McKenna goal was horrendous as well.
Crazy that the bottom pairing with Tuhkala has been best so far.
The second line looks bad. Where the hell is HYNNINEN?! V*ttu!? Third lines worst player has to be Hemming. Completely invisible. Vesterinen could probably be better. Skates better and that line could use a player similar to Saarelainen and Vesterinen.

17 year old players dominating this tournament is pretty rare. It’s mostly only the best of the best that can pull it off. And most of them start off further down the lineup and work their way up.
