GDT: Finland Vs Canada | 7:30PM ET | Group A - Canadian Tire Centre

We're a mess down the middle. Hopefully Hynninen is back in the next game and switch so Miettinen plays on the wing and Kumpulainen as centre.

17 year old players dominating this tournament is pretty rare. It’s mostly only the best of the best that can pull it off. And most of them start off further down the lineup and work their way up.
And the reason they start low and work up is because Hockey Canada is incompetent, which is my point. It is rare, but Mckenna is obviously the rare guy. (Of course this is just a small part of all the guys they leave off.)

Or you know they are following a formula that has worked for them for decades now…..

Such a racist hockey stereotypes game;

Canada, in your-face bullies, some dirty stuff, throwing everything on net
Finland, not as good, great goaltending, a couple of good chances

Zebras; trying to call a just game mixed in with the patented weak international penalty
Yah man, pretty darn accurate so far!:thumbu:

Why is Hynninen not playing, sick? Why? Insane. Especially when Kumpulainen is on the wing as well.

It's darn near impossible to get a 17 year old Dman playing with Schaefer's level of poise, and then obviously has talent as well. Absolutely a #1 caliber prospect
Not only does he have amazing offensive instincts and the ability to make plays, but he’s a very good defender already. Great shot blocker and knows when to apply pressure down low. His skating is such an advantage and then combine that with his skill level and hockey sense, a future #1 D for any team who picks him. Is he the best D prospect since Makar?

Hard not to be pleased with period one.

Up front : We need to shoot more.

On the back end : Really well done - 5 shots given up all period including a PK.

Goaltending was air tight.

Struggled at center ice and they got too fancy.

Once this team gels, we could be looking at something special.

I mean you wont cheer for a canadian because he was drafted by the leafs lol. I give your posts a solid 0.0/10
Hey pretty good last 2024 game eh?

That was the first roughing scrap I’ve witnessed Schaefer be a part of. He’s usually really calm and collected unless he’s provoked. He’s not one to get scrappy.

Is it a good formula though? Overwhelmingly the most talented team every year but the results don’t match, especially recently. 5 wins in 15 years is not the standard that Canada has set.

Will be higher regarded than Makar was on draft day, without the concerns about the level of competition. Probably the best draft prospect D since Dahlin went #1?

And to think posters were upset because he was the 13th forward. Do posters not watch the WJR's? 13th forwards very quickly move UP.

Someone I'm watching with just brought up a good point. You can start with the offensive player you know will fit anywhere, as your 13th. Wait to see who from your top six is not cutting it and drop them down.

I mean he started the night on the 2nd line.

Crosby, Tavares, McDavid, and Bedard all started tournaments down the lineup and worked their way up on teams that won gold medals.

And before someone jumps to point out that Tavares isn’t like the other 3 there, yes I’m aware but he was a massively hyped prospect who played in the tournament at 16.
