Really interesting discussion in the studio about the finnish junior hockey. Lehtera had some nice points. He thinks there should be no workweek games. And there are too many games in general.

Hearing from swedish stream Jalonen and co talking with referees they dont want to play. They arguing would take 30 more minutes to fix ice and its not even sure if it would work.

What the hell have you Swedes done to your arenas that the ice can't hold up?

Haven't been watching this closely but probably the same issue as always; putting down new ice advertisement, layer of ice too thin, many people in a relatively small arena causing warm conditions = problem.

Match cancelled. Kurri should say something back to Sweden's federations forsberg now.

Why should Kurri say anything? What's he got in this?

That Swedish federation guy was mad at Jokerit for "not letting" omark and Karlsson go in these games. He said that "maybe Jokerit is a russian team".

Well, like you said, we've seen this time and time again. Embarrassing, really.

Or you can just stop put new adverts in there all the freaking time..****ing idiots.

Advertising destroys the game..

If they really need to do that, they could/should put some kind of LCD displays under the ice, they could change the adverts anytime the want..

In principle, I agree. I can, however, understand those who say that lack of cash destroys the game too.

Easier said than done. The water-proofing on those would have to be sterling. Tons of plexiglass and other materials required to seal the screens in. Which means that fixing those in case of a malfunction would be a female dog too. Certainly not something one could do on a moment's notice.

Waterproof is not a problem. I can throw my galaxy s5 to swiming pool and don't haveto even reboot it. Fixing them would be a problem as the ice needs to be melted.. but it has to melted when you change normal ads too.

Just an idea, i don't honestly care. Of course it feels strange as it hasn't been done yet but it could be done I think.

I think the issue is the coldness those screens would have to endure. I think we all know how poorly screens work in subzero temperatures. Also, if a screen would start to blink during a game, that would be confusing as hell for the players.

Soon another try.. I think ice will stand this time because its in Globen arena.

I didn't say either that water (and cold)-proofing is impossible. But it's still going to take somewhat sturdier materials than what you use with a smartphone.

However, the real issue is fixing 'em if they malfunction. With the screen covered under ice and the element-proofing materials, it's no trivial task to get to one, even more so if a bug hits in the middle of a game. And yeah, the blinking, possibly. The best to be done in that case would be to cut the power to it - but that would leave a big black rectangle in the middle of the ice. Perhaps not the most viewer-friendly solution either. And the advertiser would hardly be happy either.

So yeah. I can see static ads persisting for quite a while longer.
