I don't think this is a good idea. The time difference may be affecting his play. I think Westerlund should have chosen Norrena for the first game just be safe.blacklabel said:According to YLE "teksti-tv" Niittymäki will start tomorrow.![]()

I think it is because I just don't have confidence with Norrena or Bäcksröm in net. And Switzerland isn't an easy opponent either.Padawan said:I don't think this is a good idea. Going with Niittymaki should be more about getting him acquainted with the Olympic conditions, not whether or not he's playing Switzerland or not. David Aebischer typically chokes when representing his country.blacklabel said:I think it is because I just don't have confidence with Norrena or Bäcksröm in net. Hopefully they won't play in the same line in all games. Otherwise there will be a lot of penalties.Jokeri said:Ruutu - M.Koivu - Nieminen

LET'S GO FINLAND!![]()

I agree with those who have realized that some of our average players often are reliable and solid on the national teams. Especially Aki Berg and Niklas Hagman, but Niko Kapanen should be mentioned too.![]()
Whats ironic is that Finland's real strength, the extreme depth of our goaltending somehow turned into the achilles heel of this team, Niittymäki might be an average NHL goalie, but mentally he will affect the whole team, they just won't feel secure with him (unless he gets a lucky start) and you just can't win if you don't have trust in your goalie. I feel so sorry for Koivu-Lehtinen-Selänne, cuz this will end with a fiasco.

Borlag said:The way I see it, Finlands strenght is that we don't have any true superstars. By this I mean that while we do have a clear #1 line, no one single player is so much above others that they'd get cocky about it. Along with this, our lineup can hardly be called as all-star lineup.
What this basically means that in order for Finland to be competitive, we have to play together as a team and that's exactly the #1 strenght that Finland has always had.
Same here and I include Saku Koivu on that list too. Both superstars both on the ice and off the ice.TK79 said:Selänne's still a superstar in my book![]()
