Thank you for this, I needed this after waking up to us beating the New York Feckless Toddlers. We need to lose to maximize our chances of competing down the line. However, what the Flames have done has led them to the exact same place they've found themselves for the last 30 years, the middle. The f***ing middle. It's always the bloody middle, minus a couple of years where they managed to finish high and then get routed in the first round. Nothing about new "management" is saying it will be different.
They are the same Flames we have known for decades. Any success they have is due to fantastic goaltending. Wolf is just the new version of Kipper. He will cover up most of the disgusting warts this team has for the next 10 years.
For three decades we have been screaming for a true number-one center, and for three decades, they have not managed this. Imagine going 30 years without having a number one center. Joe Nieuwendyk was the last one the Flames had—such horrible management.
We shouldn't want playoffs, we shouldn't want to give Montreal our pick, and our fanbase is delirious for 5-6 games of playoff hockey.
What would the cost be at the draft to trade from say 30th (Florida's pick) to 11th (Montreal with our pick)? Surely more than 5-6 games of playoff hockey where a contender kicks our teeth in.
