Rookie error by Mateychuk there, he has to make the safe play - especially that late in the game.
It was a bad/lucky tip off the Ranger stick, but in the NHL pro's know how to tip those out of the air.
He knows he ****ed up too.

Anyways, get healthy and catch fire after the break. They're still in the thick of it.

As someone who blames the goalie quite a bit, maybe don’t turn the puck over directly in the center of the ice. It’s not an “easy save”.
It's not an easy save but this team right now needs it's goalie to bail them out. When that happens they win games, Elvis wasn't good enough to steal a point (atleast)

I’m not going to say he was great but I feel like he was good enough to win. He stopped two breakaways in the first.

He could have made a game saving stop I guess but maybe don’t go into a shell the entire third period.

Tough loss before the break. Hopefully guys rest up, get a little healthier and be ready for the final run.

Looking forward to an exciting finish to this season, something that hasn't happened for a few seasons.

It's only because he's unimpressive.

He's on his 5th NHL team in the past 4 years and spent almost all of last year in the AHL.

All things we know, well at least some of us do. I'm not really sure why we resigned him other than it's not going to hurt the team. Kinda wild to see him out there in the final mins of a 1 goal game though. He's wildly not a factor in most things he does.

Pretty much my point. This team is so bad right now with the injuries, they are going to subject their goalie to an onslaught for half the game. It's not a reasonable ask for Elvis to steal the game but that's what he'll need to do until we get some better players back.

Our fanbase has to be one of the biggest doomers out there...we are only 1 point back and almost fended off the rangers (in an admitted ugly game) while being held up by duct tape but everyone is screaming that the season is over fold it up...

If this happened after 4 nations I could agree but seems like the Calvary is coming back after the break even with Marchy probably wearing a fishbowl. Who knows maybe we will have a goose by our side at that time when we play again on Feb 22

Maybe it’s just me being nitpicky but does it look to anyone else like Vronkov isn’t even trying? Getting too low in the O zone and making it easy 1 pass break outs for the other team, then in the D zone not getting the puck out along the boards. Just seemed to not move his feet at all. Shades of it during the Utah game too

First goal was the worst one

I have this gross, pit of the stomach feeling after those loss - kinda like that loss to Detroit. Late ugly goal.
I turned to my wife when there was 5 mins left and said “this feels like one of those games where we lose in the final minute”

Almost right, just came 30 seconds earlier than expected

The break is finally here. We're going to be a VERY different looking team when we come back.

If what they were before everyone got hurt was legitimate, we'll be fine. We have 14 games left against teams near us in the standings. Still control our destiny for the most part.

We were a step slow all night. You would have thought WE played last night. Still, to put it in perspective, if you would have told me at the start of the season we'd be one point out of a playoff spot at the break...

It’s his style of play, he looks very casual while making quick and often pretty smart plays. Can’t argue he’s been less productive without Monahan and Marchenko, but he’s not a play driver and he needs line mates to set him up
