Won't happen but one thing I'd give thought to is to swap an injured Nugent Hopkins and Evander Kane.

Give McDavid a valid shot finisher option to complement netfront Perry as well Kane's physical game might help disrupt to give more ice for McDavid. An injured Nuge with speculated hand or wrist injury can still distribute the puck and could help Draisaitl get his shot volume up and become the primary shooter option on line 2.

64 goals scorer. He is his shot finisher and he needs to believe it and will it. He can't go into his second stanley cup finals and playing in deficient thinking pass 97% of the time.

He's a natural super elite distributor who creates space and breakdowns with his brain and skating to feed line mates or finish himself. Circumstances wise he's playing with a diminished winger who will struggle with conversion. The Panthers premise is to take away his time and space. Having a big, physical shooter type who can extend to mid-range finishing or high-danger net crashing maximizes ways to beat a game planned designed over years to stop him.

The only acceptable penalties I want to see the Oilers possibly get are goalie interference ones, crowd and storm that crease at all night and let Bouch and Drai fire away.

Ultimately nothing we say matters. The team has to win tomorrow to have a chance and if they don’t the only question is if they lose in 5 or 6.

If they can’t bounce back and win after a game like that, then they simply don’t have it.

Come out early, take the lead and don’t get suckered in to play Floridas game.

Hebert and Rooney did game 2. I think it’s more unusual that the same two do consecutive games. What I think is fishy is how Rooney and Macauley are officiating games in the finals period. These are two of the worst in the entire league and most of their games turn into circuses.
I missed 99% of game 2…didn’t realise they reffed that one. STR must not have updated their site correctly when I checked it the day of G3. If there was ever a case for AI referees in pro sports, it’s the NHL but since they’d be programmable computer systems, they’d be even easier to manipulate penalty calls.

Surprisingly, the Oilers are 3-3 with McCauley reffing their games and up until the start of last game, they had a -3 penalty differential. That’s now -11 in McCauley reffed games. He’s going for the green jacket. You can’t tell me the Panthers were that disciplined to have 3 power plays for the Oilers to their 11.
