I'll jump in here.

Can you point to something, specifically, that made you reach the conclusion that Zadina played well with Vrana?
ill jump in here - where did i mention he played well with Vrana? I cant find any mention of that in this thread.

elsewhere, i would have said he could benefit from playing with someone likr vrana, but i know i didnt say he has directly have played with Vrana. so im intrigued where you pulled this from?

I'll say that I rather liked the Vrana-Ras-Zadina line from late last season. Obviously Vrana drove the offensive play on that line, but I think it took some of the shooting pressure off of Zadina and he played a more balanced offensive game. Then you had Ras, who did a good job along the boards and helped create some space for both the other two. I think it was the best either Ras or Zadina looked in a full time role with the Wings.

I'm not opposed to trading him, but I think his value is so low right now that it would be hard to return anything useful. Only way a trade like this works out for the Wings is a true change of scenery trade which brings back a similar player that could break out here. One thing I've seen is that Yzerman is a fairly patient guy. I am confident he will get fair value for him if we trade him. He didn't rush out and trade Drouin when his value was at it's lowest, he waited and got a really solid asset in Sergachev back.

Can you please explain why LA needs Brannstrom?
Also, I believe you are in very slim minority of Kings fans who believe LA should trade Vilardi…

Comes down to if he wants to play the left side over the right. I seem him as a young LHD that would help balance LA's prospect pool going forward but also could help right now.
Vilardi maybe too much from LA here. I am not necessarily in favor of dealing him but I struggle to see how he fits long term in LA if they are trying Fagemo on Kopitar's wing while he is in the AHL. I don't want him moved but I think Kings brass has him down their depth chart to the point LA may as well deal him before they torch his value. Brannstrom is probably worth a prospect like Madden not Vilardi though.

Sorry, it wasn't you. I didn't realize you interjected yourself into another conversation.

Last year when he was on a line with Jakob Vrana he was producing well and hes only 22.

That was the original comment being discussed where you jumped in to start questioning someone's credibility.

i might be in the minority but i dont really like Ras's game this year versus what he was showing last year. Personally i think he's closer to becoming a Brian Boyle 3c who could dominate but i just dont see him having the qualities to be a 2C for what Zadina and Vrana would need. I dont think his passing and vision are high enough to keep up and hes far from physical so that aspect of maybe he could move guys around and tire out other lines wont work.

id love nothing more than to wheel zadina and another asset to get someone in Sergachev's dimension but i dont think he could fool a GM again like that but who knows.. he did trade de la rose for Fabbri.

Dont sleep on Veleno being a 2C. First year player who needs to work out some kinks but if he gets going, who knows. he's clearly shown he can take information and continue to develop.

Arizona seems like the best landing spot for him... he can play big minutes in a pressure-free market, and possibly turn his career around...

Because right now he seems like a Yakupov type, who will be playing in Europe before he's 25...

To Arizona: 2022 1st, 2022 2nd, WSH's 2022 2nd, Zadina, plus one or two of Viro/Sebrango/Johansson

To Detroit: Chychrun

Same Villardi that struggles at the NHL level? That one?

Detroit doesn't need Chychrun, they already have Seider, plus Edvinsson, Sebrango, Viro, Johansson, McIsaac, and Wallinder as prospects. Zadina only moves for either a swap of players who need a change of scenery but still have solid upside, or in a hockey trade to upgrade a current need that can't be filled by prospects already in the system.

How Zadina compares to Vrana and Kakko... Those are insightful comparisons to see.

With Edvinssons trajectory I don't see the need to burn a 1st round pick on a Dman.

Better to use that capitol on a C in the draft or in a trade for a legit C prospect.

Zadina is a scary type to get rid of. He’s a responsible player who’s getting chances. They’re just not going in the net as people would like.

He’s the exact type you trade away on the cheap and within a year is lighting it up.
There’s no reason to move him unless you get at least the same in return.

The only type move I could see with him being the main part leaving Detroit, would be a straight up for a player like Tippett.

IF IF IF you could first talk w/his agent and instantly extend a la Pageau, why not Strome + better picks for Zadina + lesser picks?

What does Detroit need?

Center prospects with clear top-six potential. I’d also be interested in a top four LD that fits our core age range to partner with either Seider or Hronek.

or...
something around a core of
Strome + Lindgren
for
Zadina + Rassmussen

I feel like Zadina for Kapanen might make sense for both teams.

Other than Kapanen being RH shot, it doesn't make much sense for Detroit. Kap 3 years older and more expensive while talent difference is minimal if anything. Put Kap in Zadina's 3rd line role in Detroit playing with two offensively challenged players and his production drops similarly imo

Is Edvinsson trajectory-ing to play 60 minutes a game?

No... Why would he?

The Red Wings have Seider who is a top pairing D.
They have Edvinsson who is tracking to be able to ride shotgun with him.

They have Filip Hronek who will thrive on the second line seeing lesser competition (not unlike Kronwall in his early years when the Wings had Lidstrom and Rafalski).

The Red Wings don't need to spend a high pick on a defenseman of any type if they don't want to.
