No. Been a fan of Mesar since before the draft but he is a poor man‘s Marner in terms of style : playmaking winger with a good shot and good perimeter play. Bedard is supposed to be a generational talent.

Marner is Marner Mesar is Mesar. Marner has only racked up great regular season totals, but hasn't yet won much in the playoffs. Marner has a lot of track ahead of him to write his story. So does Mesar.

Patrice Bergeron wasn't as good offensively as Marner. But so far, he's on his way to the hall of fame. Marner isn't.

If Mesar can be our Marner I will take it 24/7!

Me too, but the poster labeled Mesar as a poor man's Marner. I'm not ready to accept that label.

At any rate it doesn't matter what we'll accept. All that matters is what Mesar actually becomes, which has nothing to do with what we project or want or pencil him in or label him as becoming.

I said in terms of style he reminds me of marner. Just a stylistic comparison.

I agree, but you can see why some here might not love the comparison lol
Don‘t get why, Marner is a great player, plays PK and PP. He is a good skater, good passer, has very good hands.

The only thing not to like with Marner is his contract !

If Mesar ends up a playmaking winger on the second line, that s a great success for MTL.

Kitchener Rangers were undefeated (3-0-0 and 18 goals scored) when Mesar was in their line-up. The Mesar's Effect!

It's another story without him tonight...

Gimme a break. Marner is better than any Habs player since the mid 90s. Mesar hasn’t played in the NHL.

Hockey pundit Andrew Zadarnowski posits: “I am shocked that a professional hockey player used to playing against men is dominating against kids. I honestly don’t think that he last the year in junior, regardless of Memorial Cup. After the World Juniors he will either get recalled to Laval or go to Europe.”

Zadarnowski bases his opinion on the fact that Mesar is a 1st rounder from a Euro and as such, the Habs can exercise control where he plays but by the same token, he’s not 100% about that.

Is Zadarnowski really sure that pros dominate kids? Maybe we could send Slafkovsky to double check?
