You're "sure" he would waive his NMC? How? Do you know him?

It's pointless to talk about the Preds trading Forsberg unless you have confirmed information that he's willing to waive his NMC, because all we've ever known in Nashville is that he absolutely wants to stay here forever, regardless of any ups and downs with the franchise fortunes around him.

Nobody is sure of anything. We're not spys sent from the organization to gather info on the trading block. Most of these trades don't happen and end up pointless in the end.

If the Capitals swung a deal to bring him back it would correct the biggest trade blunder in franchise history.

Besides the obvious willingness to be a part of a trade…it would take a package with a centerpiece of an absolutely blue, blue chip young player, prospect or pick.

The Preds don’t have a problem with having lots of good prospects or a good system. It’s generally acknowledged that this is in fact the problem…they have lots of good young talent and no gravitational stars of the future.

So, please..before folks cobble together packages of 3 or 4 assets in attempt to create a mythical “value” equal to one Filip Forsberg - ask yourself why the Preds would deal their actual one gravitational forward for more young depth which they are filled with…

Ok, so phrase the inquiry as "IF Filip Forsberg would waive his NMC... what would you offer?"

As opposed to "I'm sure he will waive..."

Then y'all can go off on your little fantasy scenarios, it's true it's harmless and pointless fun. But without the pretense that it could ever actually happen. :dunno:

Sounds like you just need to get over how it was worded. The outcome is the same here.

This post is a must-read for anyone who wants to suggest a trade package. There's no reason for Nashville to liquidate Forsberg into his worth in assorted draft picks. So show up with a major piece that makes a difference, or don't bother.

Isn’t his wife a country singer? Not sure if she is good. But wouldn’t Nashville be a place for her?

Yes it is, and part of the reason why we don't believe he would ever waive his NMC. He's not going anywhere, but people can put together offers, and from the fan perspective we'll probably accept many of them, despite knowing it doesn't mean anything in the real world.

I love him but 6 more years at $8.5M is not easy for every team to take on and stomach when he is 35-36.

Certainly limits his market even if he wanted to move. That’s why this kind of deal is very hard to construct. The Preds would almost assuredly have to take salary back - especially if it’s a cap strapped true Cup contender which he might theoretically waive for. And then…most of those teams don’t have the kind of young asset they can offer in return that it would take.

Preds need to let Filip go chase a Cup. Our window is shut.

What yall got. I'm sure he will waive NTC to an O6 Team, LA, Philly, Florida, Tampa Bay (like they have the assets lol), Avs, Carolina
Signing a long deal to play in a no-tax state requires that you give up dollars on the deal. Players don’t lightly sign and then move to a city in a state with higher taxes.

I’d only blithely predict he’d be open to moving to the two Florida teams, Dallas, Vegas… that might be the list.

I don’t disagree with the idea that paying a guy his big payday contract out into his twilight years is less than ideal, but if the cap is going to move consistently upwards even just a couple million on average over the next few years, it probably isn’t that big of a deal to pay Forsberg that number and have him be a veteran middle 6 winger for his last year or two.

I'd kill to have him as a Winger for Pettersson in Vancouver. But it seems pretty farfetched...from trade protection and willingness to go there, that far from Nashville and the US, to the cap quandary that would create, to just...the simple matter of what the trade package would look like from amongst Canucks assets. It'd also basically just mean the end of Boeser...which is a bit of a "two steps forward, one step back" scenario at best.
