so painful, he attacks the defender, pulls a sweet spinorama and puts a dangerous backhand on net, the only forward on the team with the ability/balls to do it, then immediately gets knocked out by his moron teammate and is probably done for good. What a nightmare.
Ya and they're both fighting for the puck like they are on different teams.

Logic suggests this is some other injury then a concussion. They let him back first off. Second, if he is dealing with a head injury which would be multiple concussions in the last year, there's no way anybody would suggest its possible for him to join the team on this road trip.

Or at the very least they don't know.

Put aside any feelings about the kid and think purely business. There's no value to the Rangers in declaring anything. He isn't on the road trip, that's all the public needs to know. "Concussion" opens up a world of problems.

The downside risk is so far greater than the return here, and I'd imagine the organization is looking at it the same way. If something happens to him there are going to be a lot of "how could you let him continue." They are going to be thorough for EVERYTHING. And rightfully so.

This is one of those rare circumstances (very rare), where nonsense like "upper body injury" actually makes sense and probably helps give the team/Filip time to figure things out.

I mean they could put him on ltir right now which does have value for the team.

you knew it would be a when he got another concussion, not an if. he’s one of the most talented players on the team and he can’t stay healthy. it sucks because we’re so thin at C. Without him, the team definitely isn’t good enough to win the Cup. Honestly I’m not sure where they go from here.

I think we know why K'Andre was pinching down the wing. He was trying to keep the play alive. Miller is not having a very good year so far and some of his pinches to keep plays alive are not great but this is also something that most defensemen around the league do all the time. Miller's awareness might not have been great there but neither was Filip's and it's been an issue for Filip pretty much since he came into the league and you can't not try to do your job by wondering what someone else is up to. When it comes to the two Rangers most likely to run into each other unawares those two were probably it. A sidenote--for all the shtick Trouba takes he pretty much never runs into anybody by accident.

I'm sure K'Andre is not happy about it. There's no point belaboring this. The last thing we really need is K'Andre have psychological issues especially when Mika's maybe doing the same. Hopefully the injury to Filip isn't all that bad but the team is going to have to move on anyway.

They never said he had a concussion last year either.

Has any team stated publicly that a player sustained a concussion since the CTE lawsuit settlements? Serious question. Would not be surprised if the NHL and clubs’ outside counsel are advising them to say nothing more than UBI.

If Chytil is out with concussion symptoms for decent term, then I think the organization and Chytil need to have a real sit down about his future. The last 2 (assuming this is one) documented concussions would have been from not much impact, which is pretty dangerous at the NHL level. Hoping it's something else here but I have my doubts. When a player like Chytil went through all that, I just think the organization would quickly shut that down if they knew it wasn't concussion related.

We're not good enough to win the cup with him. Our defense is trash.

It must be some sort of odd pathology, because now every time Chytil steps on a lego half a dozen people on hf NYR enjoy popping in and declaring his career is over for the 5th time.
Every time he steps on a lego, he has to see 3 different doctors and may or may not be able to travel each time. It doesn't take 10 years of med school to realize that's a tough look for a professional athlete. Gotta forgive the doom & gloom given some of the bullshit that's happened to this team. We all want nothing but a full and productive season out of Fil - one that we know would be possible if there wasn't always something that shoehorns itself directly in the middle of every upswing he's ever had. But with each of these incidents it feels increasingly less likely we'll ever see that, or just see him healthy.

All well and good, but they did put him back on the ice after checking him. Kind of goes against what you are saying here. The smart move from the beginning is observe, observe, observe when a guy with multiple concussions gets a head shot. They didn't do that.

I hate to say it, but Fil is a 25 year old that needs to consider his future. These guys eat, live, and breathe hockey, but unfortunately, he's an inch away from losing a lot more than just time on the ice. His hit was accidental and didn't even look too bad, but it's a hit to his head nonetheless. I can't imagine if some f***ing goon like Reaves actually went head hunting and did to him what he did to Nurse. It would be the end for him. Period. Some of these effects are too long lasting to keep considering continue to play and put yourself at risk.
