That's just a "give us more money" play.

Does anyone else think it a little ridiculous LeBron can just come right out and say he wants to own a team in Vegas for years?
Meh, not really.

When the MLS brought over David Beckham, making him a a future owner in Miami was basically part of the package.

No, hes the face of the league and does their bidding when they ask him too. Hes basically allowed to do as he pleases.

Also true.

Though I think Vegas joins the NBA as a pair with Seattle getting the Sonics back
Sonics would play out of climate pledge so they can start first while LV builds their arena. Think they’d rather start in the new arena vs play 2 years in T-Mobile. But who knows. NBA don’t need to build up their G league team like an nhl club has to with their A club to offset injuries.

T Mobile is booked pretty often, I'm sure they could make things work in theory if it came to it.

You don't see others doing it

As good and popular as Curry, KD, Doncic etc are they just a aren't on his level.

Note how when Daryl Morey rightfully criticized the CCP for what they did to Hong Kong, Silver had James go out there and essentially disagree with Morey to protect their pocketbooks.

LVXP proposal outlines. Requires FAA approval due to height (in relationship to limitations around LAS flight path).

18k arena, 6k concert, 120k sf convention space in addition to casino and hotel towers.

County recommended approval. Now on to Winchester township for approval. On agenda next week.

Came to post the same story. Looks like they're seeking to start building early 2025 with a 2029 completion. Certainly lines up with what you'd expect the NBA's expansion timeline to be

Unanimous approval from the Winchester Town Board (Clark County Commission). Only real red tape hurdle left is FAA approval to exceed the height limit (I'd expect they'll get it since Fontainebleu next door did)
AIUI previous project at this location had FAA approval for height variance. So seems pretty sure that it will be approved again.
