As has been expressed and observed on countless occasions already, he's also among the best at holding the offensive blueline. Very smart and effective pinches. I comment on them all the time in the GDTs, but some people (*ahem) prefer to ignore the details if they can't be looked back at easily two weeks from now in a clickable chart on behindthenet.
If he's so good at holding the offensive blue line, why do we score so little with him on the ice? Especially considering how many offensive starts he gets. If he was as effective as you say, we'd see it translate into goals or at least shots for. It must be that everyone else suddenly starts sucking when murray is playing his best, exhibiting his offensive zone wizardry. Any line holding he does is just overstated. Like a 4 year old's painting you put on your fridge. It's a work of art, because you don't expect jack **** out of him.
You might be confusing the blue lines. He's one of the best in the league at keeping it in his own zone, that's for sure.
