Nothing beats the 2010 gold medal game because it was such a great game and USA beat Canada on their home soil.

The 2013 semi-final USA/Canada was also special because both teams had their "A" team with the lockout and USA won pretty handily.

Another memorable (but painful memory) was USA losing to Belarus in the 2005 WJC. That was the only hockey televised like all year cause of the lockout...and that happens

From the Juniors:

2009 vs Russia - Eberle's goal
2009 vs USA - amazing game, down 0-3, winning 7-4
2005 Dream Team crushes Russia 6-1 in the final
2007 vs USA - shootout clinic by Toews
1997 5th gold in a row (much needed after the 96 World Cup)

Painful WJC memories:

2011 collapse vs Russia
2010 OT loss to USA
1999 OT loss in final to Russia
2003 final, Russians again!
2004 Fleury wins gold for USA with an own-goal

Senior level:

2010 Olympic final - Crosby!
2002 Olympic final
2004 World Cup semifinal vs Czechs
2014 Olympics - best defense ever
2003 WHC final, Anson Carter OT goal

Painful:

1996 World Cup loss to USA
1998 Olympic shootout vs Hasek
2006 ....whatever that was
1994 Olympic final, had it in the bag and choked

What is your favourite memory/game from the WJC?
For me i would have to say the 2009 Canada-Russia Semi Finals, one of the best games I've ever seen, as well as the best moment. Eberle's goal with 5.4 seconds left still gives me chills every time I watch it.
Ive only been watching hockey for 10 years though

IIRC, it was immediately off a face-off after Russia had been called for icing? Russian player got the puck in front of his own net, and instead of trying to chip it out, shot for the empty net and missed? Then, Eberle scored off the face-off to tie it?

96 World Cup, hands down.

Always enjoy the WJC. Carlson's OT goal in the gold-medal game was great. But, loved when Canada absolutely ripped apart Ovechkin and Malkin in 2005. They acted like such morons during the semis against the US, taunted the bench after the empty net goal. Then, got theirs handed to them.

I also enjoy seeing Russia win in the World Championships since it is the only time the Senior team can win and they act like they actually accomplished something by beating a US Squad with Matt Gilroy as the #1 dman.

Though I was only 8 in 1991 seeing my fellow Newfoundlander John Slaney score the game winner for the team to win the gold medal.

Best memory:
WJC 2012 - gold medal game against russia on canadian soil with my canadian neighbor.
HM: Olympics 2006 - gold medal game against Finland :naughty:

Worst memory
Olympics 2002 - Sweden vs Belarus.
HM: WJC 2014 - Gold medal game against Finland ...actually this one hurts more atm cause I can still feel the disappointment and how I felt that Finland was not even deserving being in the final and to top it off they win..omg...the p a i n.

2 From World Jrs

The Eberle goal vs Russia

The Canadians winning in a shoot out over the Americans with Price in net

and the 2 gold medal wins for Canada most recently.

Ive only been watching hockey for 10 years though

Me and some buddies after playing some pick up went to crabby joe's to watch the end of the game and when Eberle scored the whole place cheered and every replay they showed right after had the same loud cheers.

Any team that beats Canada in the semi-final, deserves to be in the Final.

Interesting, because Olympics 2006 - gold medal game against Finland , I don't think
Sweden deserved to be there.

Best Int'l memory: Fin vs Rus (Semi-final Torino 2006).
Worst by far: Swe vs Fin (Torino Final) :)

1998 Winter Olympics
2005 IIHF World Championship -> beating a strong Canadian team in the final 3-0.
2010 World Championship -> beating Russia in the final 2-1 when they were stacked.

The 2007 Semi-Final Shootout between CAN/US. I remember watching the whole thing in my Grandparents basement with the fire on. That was so awesome.

Probably would otherwise be the Eberle Goal on Russia with 5 seconds left, but I was actually playing hockey at the time.

Team USA's win over Canada in Saskatoon in 2010. One of the best games I have ever seen, that's including NHL playoffs, olympics...everything. Just an amazing back and forth hockey game.

Ristolainen's OT goal in 2014 gold medal game. And the semi-final against Canada, because I didn't believe in the team at all until that point.

Looks about half of people did not read OP since the question was specifically about WJCs only.

Yeah for me it's Eberle in 09 and the almost comeback in 2012. I love the US-CAN games on new years too.

my choices are close, i would replace the 2003 final with the 1994 gold medal shootout game vs finnland. It was canada's first gold in 33 years.

That 2010 WJC against Canada was so much fun. First year the tourney was televised in the US if I recall correctly (might have been the year before). Canada was pretty loaded too looking back. Heck of an accomplishment. Could watch that game any time.

Canada vs Russia 2009 semi final
Toews 3 shootout goals
2002 Olympic gold medal game
2010 Olympic gold medal game
2005 Canadian world junior team

The Olympic golds were all special for different reasons.

2002 - because it had been so long since a best-on-best victory.

2010 - in OT? at home? last gold medal of the Olympics? Sid the Kid? storybook ending.

2014 - they said that Canada couldn't win on the big ice, or on foreign soil, but they did it at Putin's tournament on Russian ice.

2010 Olympics Gold Medal Game (vs USA) - Crosby's OT golden goal on home soil
2002 Olympics Gold Medal Game (vs USA) - Sakic & Iginla step up big when needed to beat the Americans on their own ice
1987 Canada Cup Final, Game 3 (vs. USSR) - Gretzky to Lemieux for the win
2010 Olympics Quarter Finals (vs Russia) - Canada coming out of the gate like a caged animal and embarrassing the Russians on the largest stage was amazing to watch.
2014 Olympics Semi-Final Game (vs. USA) - Despite Canada carrying the significant majority of play the Americans kept it a one goal game, which made it a nervous finish. After that win the gold medal on Russian soil was in the bag.

I haven't seen enough Olympics and I haven't payed enough attention to the other tournaments long enough (as I have gotten older I have started to appreciate them more) to make a list, but from what I have seen on my short time on Earth, my favorite international moment was probably Zach Parise tying Canada during the Gold Medal game in 2010 with 20 odd seconds left. The jubilation I felt during that moment was outstanding. Other notable mentions are the U.S. winning the Gold at the World Juniors in 2013, and the victory against Russia in Sochi during the 2014 Olympics.

My favorite historical moment is without a doubt, not even close, the 1980 U.S. victory against the Soviets. How can it not be?
