What’s the consensus on him? I personally can’t stand him and wish there was a way to get him replaced or voice my displeasure. Am I alone in this?

His commentary is either clueless or obvious. His jokes are not funny and he hasn’t gotten better. He keeps up with the play ok and he has a decent broadcasting voice, but that’s all he has.

Side note: Heard the PBP on the Avs broadcast last time Kings played them. The way he said Villardi and called that goal gave me a full chub.

It’s really hard to have new voices in LA sports. We were really lucky for a lot of years with Chick Hearn, Vin Scully, and Bob Miller. What an absolute treat.

Faust is a pretty good broadcaster who has admittedly tried to spin some pretty terrible seasons into something positive. That’s tough.

He’s not the best in the league, but he’s far from the worst. I don’t mind him.

Cheese is the operative word.

(I don't care about him, so I couldn't vote in the poll. "Don't care" is different from "Don't mind". I do mind him but don't really care, if you know what I mean.) :skeptic:

He'd probably be better without Fox. Fox would probably be better without him(and with someone more established, so that it doesn't feel as though it's the color commentator's broadcast). They'd both probably be better not doing Kings games. The Kings broadcast would probably be better without them. It's kind of a weird and off mix all the way around.

The biggest thing is Fox though. I don't know what word to use to describe it. It's not homerism, but it's not not homerism. Maybe it's just the way he enunciates words. I don't know, but when I hear him say over the pad, under the blocker, I can't. I just can't.

The suits can’t measure who’s watching the broadcasts on mute, so they assume they made a good pick.

I’ve personally met Faust and got to share a pizza and a few beers with him over the Kings-Avs Stadium Series game weekend. He wasn’t obligated to be there hanging with fans (there were Kings org folks missing that surprised me), but he stayed for hours hearing all us folks out. He cares a lot; I don’t get where the projected claim comes from that he doesn’t. He also reveres Bob and spoke pretty thoughtfully/candidly about how honored he was to follow him while also knowing he was never going to replace him, if that makes sense. Nickson was also there, and he shared some great stories that Faust loved hearing just like all of us fans did.

The majority of Kings games are blacked out for me, so I end up watching more out of market games via ESPN+. Faust and Fox aren’t in the top 5, but I don’t get the hate. Their first season together was tough, but they’ve improved a ton. Is it perfect? Nah, but it’s fine. I personally don’t think most PBP guys hit their strides until they’re in their 50s or later. It’s a job that takes a ton of experience to get tone, timing, etc right in each moment. When I think of the best duos around the league, that’s a big thing they typically have that Faust doesn’t yet—a wealth of NHL experience. It’s also one where it helps if you’ve had decades to win over grumpy diehard fans who will nitpick about the littlest things.

Faust has gotten better. He doesn't get in the way of the game. I think hockey is hard as hell to call on TV and judging from the out of market games I watch on ESPN+, Faust is at least replacement level, if not slightly better. Fox is fine, quirks and all. Loves the Kings, knows his stuff. I put up with the cornball occasional homer-ism. Cost of doing business with a color guy who's also an alum.

I find the TV broadcast experience to be far better than the arena experience (aside from the live action, obviously). Stoll in particular is great. The s*** at the arena is just dumber than hell most of the time.

I like him a lot. I think he gets hate because of Fox and because he's got impossible shoes to fill in Miller as well as some folks being upset about the perception that Nickson was passed over.

He's young and learning as we go, but he gets better all the time, and his calls in big moments--not that there HAVe been many so far--are excellent.

I love his voice....can't stand his personality. He's a cheesedick.

I'm sure he's very normal and cool in real life, but this 'expert' hockey analyst attitude he likes to portray during the games is lame and constantly cringeworthy.
