Yeah, as a Caps fan that was just a hockey hit/collision, a welcome to the NHL moment for the kid. We've had Ovie and Wilson bullying and running over the league for years, so we shouldn't get upset when it happens to us. Physical hockey is the best. Leonard's gonna learn that outside of Ovie, sometimes you're the hammer, sometimes you're the nail. Also, if he wants to to drop the gloves, he needs to learn how to fight. Love his attitude and heart, and he's been really good for most of our games. Once his teammates get their heads out of their asses and start cashing in on some of the chances he's creating, his numbers will look better. The Caps need to wake the f*** up.

I do find it ridiculous the zebras are so f***ing soft they went and gave him 12 minutes of penalties for jawing at them. I have no idea what he actually said but outside of a threat of personal violence towards one of them, give me a break

I never said I disliked it, quite the opposite. I was drawing a comparison with the Oshie hit to show that young and inexperienced players in the NHL often get rocked like that at least once before they develop better on-ice awareness.

Orpik was an absolute hammer. I hated him when he played for you guys and he quickly became one of my favourite Caps D of all time afterwards.

not saying the oshie hit wasn't clean (it was) but if we're splitting hairs: that oshie hit was during a preseason game. fantilli's hit on leonard was during a "win or else you're eliminated" game for the jackets.

oshie is also almost twice fantilli's age. so that + the "preseasonality" of it all means that if anything, the jackets would have more of a reason to be upset about that hit than the caps would over yesterday's imo
