We've done this thread for the past couple of years so I thought I'd put one together.

When do the magazines come out?

This is what I know:
Dobber is August 1st
THN is late July early August depending on your region (it usually comes out in Quebec/East first, then the rest of Canada, then everywhere else)
The Forecaster is usually mid August I think?
McKeens is later...September usually.
Sportsnet - I haven't a clue, but it's a great new pool mag. worth a flip through.

I was really impressed with Fantasy Hockey Standard last year. The magazine had unique content and some creative articles I really enjoyed. I believe it comes out in August as well, will definitely be picking it up again.

THN pool guide is out on August 5 according to Brian Costello twitter. Although i suspect it will out a week earlier in the east

DOBBER. That's all you'll ever need. They have 3 year projections with a potential-realized system. Very solid.

Thanks, I'll be sure to grab it as soon as it comes out. My draft starts Aug 1st so I'll need to grab it asap when it comes out Aug 1st, hopefully it's in the city in the first few days of August.

Dobber is produced digitally only. Costs 10 bucks. Pretty worth the money. Usually its available at around lunch time on the 1st of Aug, so hopefully you guys arent drafting til the evening.

Yeah I did some research on that today. Seems handy, I just naturally expected it to be in a magazine. But as stated on the site, that allows them time to continuously update it until opening day. I like that, though changing rankings mid September won't help me after the draft haha. And my first pick is at 6pm that night (It's being done on message boards so only 1 pick a day), so that should be perfect. Thanks for your help!

I'm sure dobbers is good but I prefer magazine style (forecaster / mckeens) because I like making some serious fantasy league decisions while on the can .

That's exactly why iPads exist my friend. Lol

I concur.

It's pretty early for hockey magazines. A lot of stuff will change before the season starts: injuries, trades, free agents signing, etc

Agree, but I'm pretty sure in year's past the THN Fantasy Guide would be out about July 20th. The THN Yearbook by August 1st, The Forecaster late July, then McKeens in early September. Maybe they've realized they should wait a bit longer now...

Maybe THN learned their lesson from last year. They had finished writing the magazine before Rick Nash was traded to NYR.

THN deadline is really way too early. I remember their pool guide for 2006-2007, they still had Garth Snow as a goalie, wich was a few weeks after he had been named the Islanders general manager.
