I am not being silly at all. My China jersey cost less than $30 and everything is stitched and has fighting strap.
yes, with poor waltz separated layer puffy numbers and a 'fight strap' that's not the same style or size as a real one. The jersey isn't the same cut, doesn't have the same panels and puffy crest, often times the colours are wrong and construction is off and extremely to spot as a fake.

And that's not mentioning the criminals you are supporting by being fakes. There are tons of cheap real jerseys out there on Ebay, Facebook groups and r/hockeyjerseys that buying a fake is stupid.

I feel like the NHL execs would personally buy the fakes if they thought they could get away with it.

They're going to have specific parameters for the on-ice product. Those jerseys are not going to be some knockoff-level crap like what we buy for $180 to wear around town.
I thought it was interesting that they already make Nike-branded MLB and NFL jerseys.

I suppose my issue isn’t a presumed lack of quality of the on-ice jerseys, but rather the fact that the league would select a company that is basically universally disliked across the entire North American sports market

I haven't worn a jersey as apparel for 25 years. Never made a conscious effort to stop, it just stopped.

Last one I owned was those blue 1998 capitals jersey

didn’t even bid. Bad look for the nhl

I've seen this posted all over social media and any story linked to it alludes to there not being enough profit for them to do it. I imagine they don't make too much on their IIHF jerseys or their college jerseys so they don't see themselves making too much on NHL stuff either. In all reality it's problem not a big deal considering how bland and alike their jerseys are to begin with.

Edit: And chances would be that Fanatics would still be making all of the fan apparel for Nike like they do for MLB, NFL and NCAA. So in the end, nothing would most likely be different

The knock offs are $180 now?

It’s not a coincidence that I just cannot bring myself to give a shit about the NHL this year.
If you don’t care about hockey because jerseys, I’d question your fandom to begin with

Fanatics is trash but the only thing that’s gonna hinder me from is buying a jersey, unless they really up their game. Both outcomes are fine with me.

But hockey is as exciting as it’s always been…

Still glad I got some of the last Reebok Edge 2.0 authentic stock before it switched last time. Whatever the hell they pass off for authentics going forward will make the crap they used to give away on promo nights look high quality. I can't think of a single Fanatics product I've ever seen that was worth the money it cost.

At least with my Reeboks, and older CCM / Kohos I got something that while expensive, was not also trash.

I like when new jersey's comes out that means Winners ends up with the older ones for dirt cheap.

How is this Bettman's fault? The NHL is worth what it's worth. If Nike doesn't see enough profit in it, so be it. If the NHL could wave a wand and make themselves more valuable, they would do that.
its not necessarily Bettman fault but not marketing your players is pretty big deterament

I hear that complaint a lot online, but NHL player marketing is at scale with the NHL's popularity. I honestly don't know what people are expecting to see. It's simply not an NBA or NFL level league for player recognition.

It is like that because the league doesn't market its players. If they did, the NHL could be at that level, or at least close to it.

My wife bought me a Horvart jersey for my birthday. I thought the jersey was fake. It looks horrible, the numbers look like they will fall off if I have to wash the jersey.

I don’t care at all. I just buy Chinese ones anyways. Paying $350+ for a jersey or $180 for one I can get for $60 is dumb.

DHgate jerseys are fine and they cost $60-70. They’re better than fanatics ones for sure
