Damn the filmmakers for starting off the first episode of series with the Bruins-Leafs matchup last spring. :help:

As for the show, it's looking a bit like a promo video for the league. Sure it's interesting to see the players away from the rink and hear their raw emotions, but it's 100% promo material designed to spark/renew interest just as a new season starts.

I think my favorite part is when McDavid demanded a human effigy outside of the oppositions homes to get them scared. Leadership!

It's good, I like seeing how these guys live and how they go about their general days and game days. I'm always surprised when a player from a Canadian team is out and about, I always half thought they'd get mobbed with a camera following them. I've seen Barkov, Bryan McCabe, and others out and about before and always said a quick hello. They're always so willing to talk for a minute or two. I just wanted to say hi and let them know that they're appreciated, hockey players really are the best.

Isn't that the point though? To be a behind the scenes look at some of the league's stars? We all saw the games last year, can see the highlights anytime on YouTube if you want.
This just doesnt feel anywhere near the level of the early HBO ones or even something like Quarterback.

Early HBO ones had a lot of game stuff, and youd see interactions on ice, on the bench, in between periods. I know we obviously get this later with mcdavid and stuff, but first ep had barely any of that i feel like compared to these other types of series.

Watched the first ep. Thought it was kinda mid. They really don't show much on ice action or other players not directly involved.

Agreed. It was too many jump cuts of action. You can’t see the play really. It’s like flash snap. Flash ball in qb hands. Flash guy in end zone.

31-20.

If you didn’t know how hockey really looked as a casual fan I don’t think the action was compelling. You don’t know how hockey is played really. Just all you are dropped into a scene and the the puck is flying. The Willy pasta story was nice but I think I got more involved with players in receiver. Heck ufc countdowns bring more connection to the fighters

Just finished the first episode. Nothing super in-depth but still a lot of fun. I like it. Pasta snd Willie are cool dudes. Love that they included Willie telling Matthews to stop f***ing crying lmaooooo.

It’s pretty good but I was reading reviews saying it was as good as the HBO road to the winter classic series. It wasn’t close to as good as those.

I didn’t love the lack of ability to lean into the importance of certain in game moments. It feels like they rushed through key things and gave too much time to some fairly average analysis from Biz/PK etc.

Still hate it. The play is developing and you cut to Connor McDavids wife? Then the puck is in the corner?

The game is over. They didn’t do anything to build the anticipation of the cup. I’m a huge hockey fan and watched the playoffs and watching this I kinda forgot who played who in what round and you still don’t even know

Also the swearing is kinda silly. They say f”ck like they pretend we say eh.

Enjoying it so far, only 1.5 episodes in. Didn’t realize that Willy and Pasta were so close. Also saddened to hear Pasta and his wife had lost their first born.

I agree with others that it would have been made sense to highlight more of the series. They didn’t talk about Matthews’ injury once.

They don't even show Willy and pasta interact on the ice once. You telling me throughout the entire series these guys never interacted? Whether it was in a friendly way or not, it's like they weren't even playing against each other watching the episode.

I like how what's her face called the Leafs core four "four generational talents" The talking heads from the "analysts" are pretty awful.

It's nice to see the behind the scenes stuff with the players. The less actual in-game stuff the better as we've already seen it, unless of course it's stuff on the bench like the "stop crying" comment from Willy.

lol, Kobe's antics are a school yard bully, he at one point refused to talk to a teammate who was in the stall next to him for an entire year because he felt the player was beneath him, not even so much as a "how's the wife and kids?", even one time for an entire year.

Jordan punched a teammate half his size in the face in practice.

You can't take a little yelling in the locker room, you got no business being in pro sports.
You know I remember thinking Connor was sick during the finals because his voice was shot. Know we know why.

The fact that people are bothered by McDavid yelling is hilarious. It’s nothing.

Jackie Redmond is awful. There a rumours that she got fired from Sportsnet for salacious things with the blue jays and had fled to the USA to the keeps media job.
