Player Discussion Fabian Zetterlund traded to Ottawa

He has the same amount of goals as Gaudette.

Gaudette has done jack squat since November and he's still rocking an unsustainable 19.5% shooting percentage.

He's very fortunate to have 17 goals. His expected goals (given the scoring chances he's gotten) is 11.2.

Zetterlund expected goals this year is 20.9, pretty much double that of Gaudette.

In short, Gaudette has been very lucky and Zetterlund has been somewhat unlucky.

The two players aren't comparable at all. Gaudette is an AHL scorer who's only in the NHL because he's Green's special boy, while Zetterlund is a legit top 9 forward who is better at every facet of the game.

Gaudette does not have better hands than zetterlund lol. Gaudettes hands are made of stones
I wouldn't say his hands are made of Stone. But Zetterlund is definitely better at carrying and cycling the puck. Gaudette is decent offensively, he just isn't skilled enough to create that separations that shows a great player from an average one. Gaudette is average in most facets of the game.

Zetterlund can really put velocity on the puck. His shot looks like one of the hardest on the team. He simply has to get it on net.
He gets himself too close to the net where defenders sticks are getting in the way a lot - or I find, anyway. When he drills a wrist shot, it's really good when he doesn't think too much and just zips it.
Which I think he's starting to realize, don't get too fancy, just zip the motherf***er.

I think you’re undervaluing players that are average in most facets of the game.

Below average*

If he was average in most things while being above average in scoring touch around the net, you would probably have a 50 point player most years.

Because he does have an above average scoring touch...but then I'd say he's well below NHL average when it comes to things like speed, acceleration, agility, stick handling, etc.
