Good hearing that he doesn't shy away from contact but to those who hope he makes the Bruins lineup this season, he can shy away from contact and 'get away with it' in the leagues he has played in. I've heard he's relatively thin? What happens when he gets trainwrecked by a Hatheway type of player in the NHL
yep, if you were to look back at some of my previous posts, I have mentioned that he`ll need to pick his spots as to when to do this sort of thing because, as you mention, the toolboxes of the league like Hathaway and Wilson don`t give a rats ass if they hit you and injure you

After 1 period: SWE 1 - LAT 0

Lysell drew a late cross-check driving the net, then got a helper on the PP goal off a nice rush.

Locmelis has been quiet, but Latvia played a spirited period.

Lysell has drawn a lot of penalties against in this tournament. This one was kind of a cheap shot, but it was also a reaction to Lysell getting himself into the crease as the whistle blew, and the Defenseman getting a bit angry at him for being there.

The assist was a really nice rush/wrap around attempt leading to a wide open net from the winger on the other side

Kids just got to continue playing to his strengths- not worrying about nonsense.

Sweden was awful again. Uninspired hockey team.

Lysell didn't do much except lay a wicked two hander onto a Finn out of frustration. Boy has a temper. Maybe he really is a future Marchand.

Land of Nod in the East of Eden
Just watched the long Russian overlay of the Nhl highlights of Sweeden versus Finland.
Sweeden looked lethargic, but credit to Finland.
Lysell also looked different. He used his speed and handle less. He tried to maintain a lower center of gravity, drive the net, and stay down and through his shots. He had three decent chances, two snapshots and a very juicy rebound on which he was boxed out. I was glad to see the grittiness, but think he sacrificed some speed and creativity to do it. It was that kind of grinding game. Still, he looked a little too much like Nils Hoglander for me.
One other thing, teams seem to slant away from him on the PP. I do not know if they are trying to take away the right point man or what, but Lysell was wide open on the weak side for one timers in the last two games. (Makes me wish Cassidy was still here, as Lysell would get those Pastaesque one timers for sure.)

Haven't been blown away by Lysell, but you can see his skating, vision and stick handling could make this kid very fun to watch. Multiple times now I've watched and thought, how'd he make that pass or even know the guy was there.

Still not expecting him to make the team out of camp. I'm hoping he does play in the AHL this year though. It should help him adjust to playing against men.

I think as well that he needs some AHL time BUT, given the injury situation why not start him in Marchand's spot for a while and see what happens? If it's a disaster send him down and/or send him down when Marchand returns. We're going to need a better placeholder than Foligno in that spot. Why not let the kid get some mentoring from one of the best centers in the NHL?

His goal today was a thing of beauty.

Why would Foligno be the placeholder until Brad gets back?

Zacha - Bergeron - DeBrusk
Hall - Krejci - Pastrnak
Frederic - Coyle - Smith

I dont see Boston having him play 4th line minutes (maybe under Monty that philosophy will be different though), nor does it seem like a better option then 18+ a night in Providence (or WHL, which I selfishly hope he doesn't return to).

Now if the stars align and he has the camp of all camps then it's a different discussion. We've seen in the past though that just because you have a strong camp doesn't mean you'll make the NHL roster opening night

I'm sorry if I missed this but if he doesn't make the Bruins he has to go back to the WHL because of his age doesn't he? Can he go to Providence at his age with WHL eligibility left?

I think only the 20yo age rule only conforms when players are from the chl? I could be wrong but 18 I think is the regular requirement for the ahl otherwise

Get Frederic out of there he is a waiver wire scrub. Can bring some energy on 4th line but that is it.

The post is for when Marchand is out. Do you have a better option to move up? Foligno excite you more?

Frederic — Coyle — Smith

Had success last year together for a bit. A year later, it wouldn’t hurt to see how it does again, not that they’ll have much choice.

This is a big year for TFred. Now under a new coach, let’s see how he does.
