Tro will be better for 2-3 years tops. After that the Koko deal will be way better. Age difference and potential being key.
Yes, but the other question is what does this team look like in 3 years?

Did they just narrow the window by making the smart long-term bet?

The Canes don't believe that they have a narrow window. That's the key difference between how they think and how us fans think, at least to me.

I get the age, but we're in our win now window. Trocheck has proven production as a 2C, KK does not. Trocheck is more of a win now guy. KK long term could very well work out, as soon as this season. I still like Tro better for right now.

He had the moving van packed before the season ended. I kinda wonder re: how far in advance do these guys just know they're moving on and does it have an effect on their play?
I would have gladly given Trocheck $5.6x7. Seven years from now he'll still be a decent 3C and that will be 3C money. This seems like a missed opportunity for the Canes, unless he really just wanted that big market Cup contender experience (which I wouldn't blame him).
