Didn't think I needed to explain this but here it goes:

Just because one league is classified as a U18 league, and another a U16 league doesn't automatically mean that the league with the older kids is a higher level of competition.

You're missing so much context in this post it's baffling.
Are you claiming that the league where Roob plays is way better, or better what where MacKenna plays?
Do share your views why .

Also, i didnt say that that is automatically the case but usually it is the general idea.

Gojhl > Whl ?
Alliance u16* > Csshl u18 prep ?

*if that is the name of that league

I Definitely did not say, or was alluding to that the GOJHL was a better league than the WHL. I think it’s best to disregard those stats at the moment because the sample size is so damn small for both players.

I wouldn’t say that the CSSHL U18 league is better than than the Alliance U16 league - I’d say they’re pretty close in terms of quality. I wouldn’t say one is definitively better than the other, rather they’re rather equal in terms of quality of competition.

I was more making a broad statement that comparing stats across leagues isn’t an apples to apples comparison, there is context there that is really only applicable if you’re quite familiar with the leagues.

For example - Ottawa’s HEO U18 league isn’t on the same level of competition as most of the CSSHL U18 league on the West coast, despite both being U18 leagues - and even then the talent spread across both these leagues isn’t even, so not all teams have the same talent as other teams, so further context needs to be applied there to.

I think that is in 24 Alliance games and with 10 left to play. Roobroeck having a historical season for the LJK.

It's been a big week for the kid. Another hat trick last night gives him 13 on the season overall. 70 goals in 37 games with a total of 114 points and 54 in 27 Alliance games with a total of 81 points. Breakdown here.

It got me wondering how this compares historically to previous Alliance standouts. According to this query on Elite Prospects, which covers the last 20 years or so, it's pretty darn good.

Roobroeck's point total, ppg average and gpg average in Alliance play are the highest.

Some decent company he's keeping there, and here's another reference point, Nazem Kadri had a great season in 2005-06, but doesn't rank as high on ppg list.

If one wonders what he has left to accomplish at this level it would be to lead his team to a big tournament win and some success at the OHL Cup. No doubt he could have played in the OHL this year and done well, but because of his late birthday, he'll have three seasons in that league before he's eligible for the draft in 2026.

Yeah, I assume that, and his average OHL Cup last year, was why Misa leapfrogged him. Likely with a better tournament he's going #1 this year, unless Moore or Griffin somehow do something unreal. Niagara is still a factor.

And unlike last year, when he applied for exceptional status and would have had to agree to report to whoever drafted him, he can have some say in the matter this year. His brother Dylan played one year for Niagara before being traded to Oshawa for an eighth-round pick. That's not much for a former third-rounder entering his 18yo season, so it makes me wonder if Roobroeck asked for a trade or if the Ice Dogs gave up on him. Any insight on this?

Not sure entirely, but I was told Niagara didn't see a place for Dylan when he has traded. I don't know if he had any say in the trade or not or what the relationship was there, but I know he wasn't in Niagara's plans for this year.

I heard he asked for a trade. His brother has been great in Oshawa this season after a bad rookie year in Niagara. Would bet a lot of money he doesn’t end up in Niagara.

From what I heard, he wasn't going to be in Niagara's plans for this season, so he was basically gone as it is regardless.

If he was not OK with going to Niagara at #1 overall he'd be a slam dunk for #2 overall to Erie. Erie would get yet another high profile player. Wash, rinse, repeat lol.

LJK is currently playing EMC in the Alliance playoffs.

Game 5 is Saturday in London. I am thinking about checking out the game to see what Roobroeck is like live.

May also be a chance to see 08 Beckham Edwards. He was called up for EMC last night.

Two very high end kids for the 26 draft coming out of the Alliance.

There’s now a draft lottery in the OHL for the 4 teams that don’t make the playoffs. Niagara, Erie, and Soo will be in that lottery and then one of Kingston or Oshawa (likely Kingston). Would bet money he doesn’t end up in Niagara. Oshawa would likely be his preferred destination as that’s where his brother is who has had a ton of success there and is the closest to London beside Niagara. Soo is 7 hours away and the most remote doubt he wants to be there. Erie is 4 hours away and he would have to live countries. So Kingston is probably he second choice.

Very disappointing preformance at the OHL cup. Small sample size but just 2 points in 5 games isn’t good enough for him. At one point I thought he was a shoo-in for first overall In the OHL draft and that he could be on par with McKenna.

Now? I’m not so sure. Other kids have caught up to him.
